I am currently wondering if you can make money with Engineering?

My Main which is a Warrior has 525 Engineering and 525 Skinning and just wondering will I be able to make it past the 10k mark with thesr professions? I have never gone past the 10k mark making gold, so just wondering if the professions I have picked are good money makers? If I gain Exalted reputation with Alliance Vanguard for the Mekigneer's Chopper will that be the only way I can make a decent profit? I'm on Frostmane btw.
