I've always quit the game before they died or went to hell.
Started with Ultima Online, then Daoc and later Planetside. And now stuck in WoW for the 7th year.

They did have backups, but there was some kind of issue with them : /

They did not have backups. They deleted a "crucial code" that wasn't backed up in full anywhere except the main servers.

I don't really play MMO's lately, not got much time for it. I've got 1-2 hours gaming a day max, not enough to play properly, that's why I love LoL. Hop in, play a game and leave.

Any sane company, when their livelyhood is concerned, keeps backups, backups of backups, backups of backups of backups and backups of those backups. Also, probably, old versions to fall back on if everything else went to hell.

I'd demand the money back for the transactions, if they're just gonna end the game and provide with no more support for the game after that then they don't deserve the customer's money.

The money is only wasted if you didnt have fun, else going to the movies, eating good food and basicly everything else you use money on is wasted aswell.

On topic, not much to do, find a new game to play, or stop playing games.

For me, I'd thank some higher power for that "mistake", forcing me to quit. Unless of course it was a game i really did love more than just something to pass the time, then I'd be a little pissed, but I'd move on.

Hahaha sadly this is probably true for a large number of people.

What would I do?
1. Confirm that it isn't a bad joke
2. Finish whatever I was working on
3. Fuck around and do some self-destructive things (for my characters, of course!)
4. Find a new MMO
5. ???
6. Profit
