Any game has a chance of getting 10/10 before the reviewers have actually played it.
This article is pointless, so is the topic designed to discuss it because it's talking about un-news.

Just look at the first sentence:
"We delve into the factors that could mean Guild Wars 2 has the potential to score the perfect 10."
    Translation:
We investigate why MAYBE guild wars 2 MIGHT be 10/10 BUT WE DON'T KNOW YET.

It's an article designed purely to get hits.
I am not saying GW2 won't get 10/10, I am not saying that it will, I am saying that predictions about it before anyone has played it are completely and utterly stupid.

Well, true, jumping to conclusions are always stupid. But I think it's meant to be informative more than anything.

I'm wondering how serious this is, seeing that GTA5 is rated 10/10 while absolutely nothing is known...

  4. #24
I would be more surprised if it didn't get a 10 than if it did.

    I wouldn't give it a 10.

Of course, the original joke was that the whole concept of retuning speakers to go even louder by adding an '11' did not actually make sense. The speakers themselves still have a max, while the numbering itself merely indicates intervals between the minimum and maximum. So changing it from 1-10 to 1-11 only served to make it so their '10' actually produced a volume that would normally have fallen between 9 and 10, with 11 still matching the volume of what would normally be 10.

It's just been hijacked/misconstrued to describe something that goes beyond usual boundaries or expectations, though.

    Next-gen MMO PvP.... not

Anyway, if you don't already see where I'm going with this, allow me to spell it out: the only meaningful MMORPG "endgame" -- i.e., something novel to do after the progression process is over -- is that of the sandbox.

MMOPvP? What are you saying with this? It's not a PvP MMo.

I love how people come here, post their misconceptions and don't even get how they make themselves look stupid.

I'm just quoting from the article:

    Next-Gen MMO PvP

That’s ArenaNet’s words, not ours, by the way. Confident words they are too, but that’s not surprising considering the innovative system being implemented.
And I say "ass" to that. People use the term "next-gen" for nearly anything.

Well, I see a lot of potential for great PvP in GW2.

These posts assume that classifications remain the same.
Sure, amps do. Gaming doesn't. GW2 will push up the bar. Everything we've seen says that it's one of the most progressive games in years.
In that sense...yes, it needs an 11, because the old classification of 10 simply won't be relevant anymore.

I might sound like a complete fanboy, but GW2 looks like it may just become the game that others are judged agaisnt.
I'm all for giving it an 11...although that would ofc imply a stat increase

Could you give us the source to that quote?

I try not to put these two words into one sentence, it's just... no.
My PvP needs are satisfied by Bloodline Champions until GW2 releases, it's also skill-based, action-oriented and F2P (If anyone is interested in it I can give out some ingame money via reflink PM)

I'm not saying that PvP won't be great. I'm just saying that the term "Next Gen MMO PvP" is way off here.

Because they're not clasifying it as an mmo but rather a co-op rpg?
If not, why? What I've read suggests its a pvp innovation...regardless of whether it's an mmo or not.
