    PC alarm wakeup

I'm looking for away to turn my pc on at a certain time and play a song as a alarm clock.

I can get windows to play the song on a schedule but have no idea how to get the PC to boot up without pressing the button!

    I have a asus p8p67 pro rev 3.1 motherboard..

    Any ideas?

You can't... That would imply the computer is 100% off and just decides to turn its self on.

You could just leave the computer on.

What I mean by alarm is just having the PC turn on and go to desktop at a certain time.

Want to use it as a alarm clock to wake me up in the morning

last time i checked an alarm clock is about $10

what you are asking is possible, but the problem is tying the waking your computer part up with an alarm clock, as posted, you should just get an alarm clock program and leave your computer on, otherwise, you need another computer to initiate a remote wake up, and your computer needs to support wake on lan

Some time ago i needed something similar, the phone i had packed a low and crappy alarm so it never woke me up, did a little search and found several solutions, one of them is Easy Timer, a simple freeware alarm clock, check it out.

You have, like Alcsaar mentioned, need to have the PC on.

some motherboards can turn on at specified real time clock settings
but don't expect it to be complex enough to set up different days of the week.
best bet would be to check your bios power management or whatever they call it on asus boards
the option would likely be called wakeup from rtc or something similar.

If you have any other device in a network it might be possible to make a script that would wake up the pc with WakeOnLan, but i'd just suggest not turning it off.

My choice of alarm that i use for myself right now is http://freealarmclocksoftware.com/ and it works well.
