Don't wear gloves, but instead wear more clothes in general. That'll make your body redirect your bodyheat to the place it's needed, which in this case is you hands. Up to 70% of your bodyheat can disappear through your feet, hands and head.

my grandfather had the same issue, cold hands and feet that turned blue/purple ish. the problem was, that his blood vessels were actually too narrow to allow sufficient blood to flow through it, making his hands go cold. by widening the vessels, more blood could flow through thus solving the problem. think this was done with medication or massage.

anyway, like i said, might want to check it with your doctor tbh.
Raynaud's Disease , Nifedipine is the stuff I take for it.

If he has Raynaud's Disease then not wearing gloves could screw his hands up in a big way. No amount of core heat will transfer if you have bad circulation.

    Dip your hands in alcohol.

    Set them on fire.

Just uh . . . try to get the fire out before the alcohol all burns away.

So this can have a lot of reasons, some of them are described above.

I got this from time to time, and well it coincidenced always with me smoking a lot and not moving besides going to the bathroom or the fridge.
I´d say no.1 reason why you are getting this is too less movement and therefor a too low blood criculation.
Move more and it will be gone. Moving with your whole body helps better but you can as well just move your hand.
And i dont mean move in the sense of pushing the mouse left, right, down and up. i rather mean make a fist, open it up again and so on. And with POWER. So muscels need additonaly oxygen which will increase bloodflow in your hand.

My son used to suffer from cold painful hands and feet, to the point of swelling and sever pain so I took him to the Doctor and he sent him to a specialist. Turns out my lad had Cold Urticaria, which is basically an allergy to the cold, quite rare Ive been told.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_urticaria

Even now at 18 he still suffers and rarely ventures out in the cold and when he does he gets swollen hands and feet. He has even been told he cant join the Army, which was always his dream, because of it.

So if you do suffer from swelling as well then its well worth a visit to the doctor as a change in diet can help the symptoms and cold urticaria many different levels, some obviously not as severe as others.

I get cold REALLY easy. I could be wearing 3 layers with a radiator heater on, and still freeze my ass off. I found it useful to have a small heater next to my desk, and while I don't have it facing directly at me (I get really hot, too.), I have it pointing more towards my keyboard/mouse. And I turn it on/off periodically when I need it.

My hands will get so cold that they'll turn white, and I can barely move them. It hurts, and I hate it. Having a heater next to my desk, while not solving my issue, has improved it a lot.

Bad thing is, I live in Texas. So I'm also a big wimp when it comes to cold :P Anything under 30 degrees, and I'm bundled up like a marshmallow. It's about 73 F outside right now, and humid!

    Good luck!

kung fu hand wraps. they keep the palms sweat free and the fingers toasty.

Skip the gloves. Your hands are cold because your body is drawing blood away from your extremities to warm up your core. Wear a warm shirt, and your hands will take care of themselves.

I used to fill up the sink with warm/hot water before a raid and soak my hands until they were comfortable. They didn't get cold enough to cause a problem after that for the rest of the raid. Yours may, I don't know, but that worked for me. Now I live in a house with better insulation and sealing, so it's a non-issue.
