Bah, the world doesn't need saving, its humanity.
One step to save the world is to create a machine that wipes memories of prejudice from human minds...And also destroys all locust and lambent in the process.

My attempt at being less of a pessimist was choosing Dawnbringer as my choice of server.
I regret somethings! (like setting this in my signature)
Remove the oil.
Zombie Apocalypse.......Yeah I know it doesn't save it, but it would be such a bitter sweet adventure. And it would rid the world of some really bad people....but bring em back in a sense. What a mind f*ck.
Goochy
Nuke em.....you never defined "save" the world
Isnt 10% of infinite still infinite?
Save the world in one step...

Integration into the Borg community, that way we'll stop fighting wars amongst ourselves since we're one and go fight other races... nah, joking, I sure hope not.
Well, let me think... one change huh? Does it have to be doable? Since if not, I'll say unlimited resources, with these the greed would virtually disappear, most wars will stop, the need to control population will stop and as such dictators will fall etc.
However, if you want something that can be doable(although hard, but not as impossible as unlimited resources), the only thing I can think is forcing at least one country per continent if not one alone on the planet and then forcing people to vote everything, but only after they take quizzes of their knowledge on the subject so we don't have people who've never touched a computer impose stuff like ACTA or economists who only care about money vote for social service stuff. We can use our mobile phones or computers to vote, we get 1 hour per week for quizzes and votes in our interest.
it wont work
Somehow ascend to godhood.
That way everyone would have to conform to my vision of an ideal world or face a cruel and/or unusual punishment.
"I see nothing. I hear nothing. I taste victory."
"Trolling (verb): speaking your honest opinion." - you know who
Just a small, but actually doable step:
stop.
buying.
bottled.
water.
seriously fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu water should be free. companies shouldn't be able to sell you tap water. Also all the plastic bottles. so many bottles.
Way ahead of you. They've agreed on that for centuries, the thing they DISAGREE on is the identity of the Prophet and whether he's been here or not.
On Topic: Make the entire world choose collectively between Free Market Capitalism and Scandinavian Socialism. ONE ideology, and even though I personally advocate the latter, I believe either would save the world if it was applied exclusively world-wide.
if there is one thing that may save the world it's cold fusion and the devices that utilize it, a virtually free and clean method to generate heat and by association electricity small enough to fit into a car and has use to desalinate water, thats the claims on what an E-Cat could do (provided it actually works)

Living in Scotland tap water is better than bottled also don't need to worry about limescale or anything like that.
The world will survive. No matter what humans do. No matter how much we blow up, this floating ball of iron, oxygen, silicon, magnesium, sulfur, nickel, calcium, and aluminium will survive whatever humans could even hope to prevent, and much, much more. In the end our impact will be entirely insignificant on the planet unless we make some massive discoveries in science, which is unlikely.
Life on the other hand.. Humans could destroy it given enough time, but it's most likely we will all die off before that, and even if we tried there are things that would be nearly impossible to destroy. We're much more likely to kill ourselves off first and life would adapt and recover.
Can't tell if serious....
The Quran (A religious document) rules the lives of millions of people in the Middle East. Entire nation's laws and politics are structured on something written hundreds of years ago. All that crap you hear about women being stoned to death for not walking outside with a male in Saudi Arabia? Thank Religion for that.
The lack of the twin towers in New York? Thank religion.
The entire list of (American) Republican rhetoric? Thank Christianity.
The reason Israel and Palestine can't get along? /points_to_religion
The reason George W. Bush, quite possibly the stupidest man to ever hold public office, got elected TWICE before proceeding to destroy the economy, increase the deficit, destroy the budget, and bomb the fuck out of an innocent country? Thank the Christians. Oh, and also, said bombing the fuck out of an innocent country was supposedly God's work, so, sorry Iraq, God made us do it.
The reason homosexuals cannot be treated as human beings in the US? Religion.
The biggest reason African Americans took so damn long to to be freed from slavery in the US? Religion.
The biggest reason African Americans took so damn long to be given rights and treatment as PEOPLE? Religion.
The number one cause of hate? Religion.
The biggest threat to personal freedoms? Religion.
The biggest reason the US ranks so poorly in Science and Math? Religion says it's the devil.
See where I'm going with this yet?
"Without religion there would be good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things, but for a good person to do an evil act, that takes religion." - Whom I should credit escapes me at the moment.
No, theologically speaking all the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam(Muslim)) all pray to the same God. Those are only three religions in what is thousands. The Ancient Greeks (And later the Romans, who incoporated the Greek gods into their religion) prayed to different Gods than humans do today. The Buudah was not the Christian-Judeo God, the Hindu pray to different gods than the Abrahamic religions, etc etc. Theologically speaking, not all gods are the same to those that beleive in whatever fallacy they beleive.Theologically speaking, all Gods are one and the same, each religion just views it in a different way.
If you haven't figured it out yet, my one step to "save" the world would be to remove religion. It is the largest cause of greed, corruption, war, hatred, and human suffering in the history of the world up to and including to the present day. Billions of humans have been systematically tortured, enslaved, brutalized, and killed in the name of religion.
