Yes. In the HoM you just display all your past achievements. So you can start doing the campaigns and collect HoM stuff, and then when you actually buy EotN you can just display it all. Though you can't get some HoM stuff without EotN (like destroyer weapons, some heroes etc.) but you can still start doing campaigns.

Yeah, that guide is pretty good. Especially since you have the trilogy. Though I would advise (if you follow the 'Quick guide to 30 points') to get more than 10 companions since that can safe you money elsewhere. And the 'Your choice of:' I would go for minis.

Edit: Nightfall is a good campaign. Gives you heroes.

keep in mind that even when you do get gwen you need to actually go to the HoM and put all the things in (you also need to complete gwen to get enough tapestries to do so)

I would recommend getting fellowship 8/8 instead leaving it at 6 points. It's by far easiest one to complete.

Oh and get yourself storybooks. If you started missions already you can pay the npc that gave you storybook to add these parts as long you do it within 30 days, but that cost little. This npc will give you nightfall storybooks http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Captain_Ahkenchu

    It's all explained here http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Storybook

I've seen plenty of people recommending to complete storybooks, but what is the GW2/HoM related advantage?
I was under the impression they just gave extra EXP, unless my memory is too foggy from when GW:EN came out.

The books give reputation for certain factions (nightfall and EotN only), EXP and gold. If my memory servers me well, the EotN books, once complete, give enough rep to get to lvl 5 of the EotN factions, enough to buy the faction specific armor. So yes, they are worth getting if you are going for HoM points.

And there's basically no reason not to take a storybook with you. Its free plat/exp/rep.

If you want some advice from somebody going through the process of filling their HoM right now, Ill give you one good piece of advice:

Ignore the titles for now. Things like explorer, vanquisher, protector etc can be useful later on, but for now just concentrate on filling your HoM with pets, weapons, armour and heroes. Also make sure you do each and every quest you can. They often reward bonuses beyond the usual like cash and experience (Cash is absolutely invaluable to filling up your HoM) like new skills and new heroes. You never know where a quest chain will lead, so dont skip anything. This is especially true of the EotN content when you get to it

Also, have a look at the PvX wiki (http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) to help out with advice on builds for both you and your heroes. The amount of skills available across all classes can be a bit daunting at first, but PvX should help you find some strong builds.

Ok so that was more than one piece of advice.

Well yeah, but I was wondering if there was some solid benefit for it.
As in, the type of benefit you would re-do the campaigns for.
Which there is not, so question was answered. :P

Re-do entire campaigns just for the book? No. It's generally not worth it. However, there is something called "speed-booking" which involves going through the quicker missions in order to grind books. While speed-booking was nerfed, it still works rather well (especially when maxing EotN rep).

When able, you should definitely try to do the bonus missions for the protector title too or you'll have to do all those missions again later. And titles like explorer and vanquisher etc. are (imo) not worth it when going for 30 HoM points. Getting 5 statues for the 8 points is enough and can be covered by hero/protector titles.
You should also pretty much skip every secondary quest imo. Unless of course they award an hero or something, but that should be clear.
