Diablo 3's difficulties

Once you beat the on normal difficulty you gain access to Nightmare, then Hell difficulty and finally Inferno difficulty.
My question is simple : Will I need to unlock those settings for each character that I'll create ?

Well.. Yes. Why would you bring a level 1 character into Hell difficulty? Not only would you die in seconds but im pretty sure the gear has a LVL if not attribute requirement.

Yeah, like the poster above me stated. Its the same thing as in D2. You need to be nicely geared from normal to head into Nightmare, Hell, or Inferno.
