    PvP servers and world PvP

I've been pondering rolling on a PvP server for some time and I'd finally like to try it... the thing is, while leveling my Assassin on a PvE server, I remember seeing maybe 3-5 Republic characters out in the world throughout my entire leveling process. So can anyone who has played/is playing on a PvP server tell me, is there any world PvP happening pre-50?

I'm not really interested at the endgame status, I know there's Illum there and maybe some contested planets with daily quests like Belsavis, but the reason I want to try this is the PvP enhanced leveling experience.

I don't think that there is a heavy enough presence of players on either side to support open world pvp pre-50 daily areas. Heck, even at 50 there aren't that many players of the opposing faction to have any good open world pvp matches.

If you really want ok pvp while levelling, either request a duel with every player you come across, or queue for warzones regularly.

This game hasn't become that popular yet for there to be population densities heavy enough for what you're expecting to find.

Yeah I thought as much... I'm not really into PvP though, so Warzones/duels don't interest me, I just wanted that feeling of going about your business leveling, knowing there's a good chance you'll run into (living, breathing) enemies. I was hoping it'd make the experience a bit more dynamic and exciting.

on my server ive seens lvl 50 reps gathering on tattoine and wiping the area so our leveling imps can't play there at all. i've also beed ganked on alderaan by lvl 50 reps so many times, i dont have this many fingers to tell. i've never seen imps doing anything like this actually.

So all of the jackassery of a PvP server without any of the actual perks (getting to clash with similar/same-level player enemies). Yeah, might give it a miss :\

Majority of my time spent on a PVP server has rendered me zero world PVP outside of Ilum. Very few places that the two factions actually meet up in the world.

Leveling as Republic on a PvP server with a fairly healthy Imp population I was able to partake in about a dozen outdoor PvP fights during the leveling process. The questing is structured almost to avoid PvP, not promote it, it's way different than WoW where it's not uncommon for Alliance and Horde to quest in similar areas. Imperials and Republic typically quest in different areas, there are some exceptions but those are few and far between. I saw most of my action on Belsalvis and Voss, a battle here and there on Tattooine along with Hoth. This game doesn't promote world PvP, it's that simple, there is more to it that a massive population imbalance, it's simply the way the questing was designed.

I've leveled 3 Imperial characters to 50 on a pvp server, and I can count on one hand the number of times I encountered world pvp on leveling planets. The server I'm on seems pretty balanced faction-wise at 50, though. Probably a few more Imperials, but not overwhelmingly so.

All I've ever seen of the other side are groups of players that like to gank me, and bored 50's.

I play on the Swiftsure server and the only places I've encountered world pvp is Tatoonie, Hoth, and Voss. Voss is where i've found most of my world pvp. Well I have been rolled by a group of 50s it was only twice (same day) and it was a bounch of 50s helping their guildies power level. Afterwards I hunted down the republics they were power level and ganked them.

I'd say a large portion of the time you see some talking about no stop ganking on pvp servers they've never actually leveled on a pvp server. Its lot of fun, come try it out.

World PVP seems to be completely dead. Levelling 2 toons to 50 (as well as 3 more to 20s) and I have engaged in a sum total of 3 world PVP battles.

Even at 50, Ilum is just a broken joke.

I encountered them like 3 times. All of the times I didn't even realized that a Republic player was attacking me - just a little confused about how did I pull this extra mob. But then your HP starts going down faster than usual, so you raise your awareness and - ooooooh we're world PvPing!

Yeah, world PvP is dead. Different leveling areas is crap too.

I play Republic on the Davik's Estate server and I got into my first world pvp battles on Alderaan the other day. I'd just finished all the quests and decided to hunt for datacrons before leaving. The last two took me fairly close/into the Imperial side so I decided to scout around and start some trouble. I camped outside House Thuul for about an hour and a half, only saw three players during that time, managed tp kill them all. I got out of there once I saw some 50s heading my way looking for me.

But yeah, kind of frusterating how far away the different questing zones are, seems like if you want world pvp you need to go and actively look for it.

The planet with the most overlap is Alderan, there I had some skirmishes, besides that I rarely saw a Pub

It has nothing to do with popularity. It has all to do with the GREAT effort made in development to insure people wont have there story/questing interrupted.

It's a fundamental design flaw. There will never be Wpvp outside of Ilum.

World PvP doesn't exist in this game because Bioware didn't want it to exist. I'm not calling them a bad company, it's just obvious with their design choices. The questing between factions almost never overlaps other than on Voss.
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

Yeah, I'm not scared of getting ganked, that's part of the fun (same reason why world bosses are fun, it's an awesome and scary thought you might run into one), I'm more wondering if there is ANY natural world PvP to be had at all. And seeing from the replies here, my own experiences and the very clear understanding that it's simply that way by design, there isn't. The best I can hope for is several encounters throughout the entire leveling process and that's just not what I'm looking for

Well, thanks a lot for the replies everyone. I might give it a go anyway, more for the sake of just rolling on a different server (fresh character, as opposed to one being funded by my main's ridiculous income) if my friends wanna try it with me, but will see.

The should of made some of the lower quest in the same zones for rep & imp.
    1. to promote World PVP
    2. to acknowledge that their exist an opposite faction

Actually, not even that's necessary, it'd be nice if the Rep/Imp quest zones just overlaped a bit. They are intentionally made almost completely different. Cool for a feeling of freshness when you start a second, opposite faction character - not cool for world PvP
