1 million signed up for the gw2 beta

Kinda angry were at the 49th hour of the "48 hours only" beta signup period, and they haven't closed it down yet, because they want better numbers to give to the media.

thanks for making everyone who signed up in the right amount of time's chances THAT MUCH LOWER.

also, they should only allow one signup per IP address. ppl who sign up 6-7 times should just all automatically be denied beta access.

If someone signed from one IP more than one PC it is okay, cuz many ppl have 2 or more PCs with different configurations at home...

The cheating is when ppl goes to the net cafeteria, librarys, universities and sign up from those places and PCs that are there...so i personaly hope that beta keys or whatever veryfication thing, will be signed to the specified PC configurations that allows u to test stuff only on those PCs. So automaticly ppl who signed from library will have to play on librarys PCs ...but ye this is still a dick move to do such things ;/

It's kind of amusing because it basically became "Only 1 Million can apply; sign up now!" instead of "You have 48 hours." Of course it has next to no impact of the probability of getting in since they basically let in 8k more people. Not like my odds are good anyways; unless they show favoritism towards GW1 owners.

Well I cant really blame them for extending it by 2h. They were very close to that 1mln and wanted to hit it. Its like "just 5 more mins till I get this done".
Its very good for em cause they have huge base to chose from when it comes to specs and a really nice marketing treat too.

Well, several people on these forums alone have claimed anywhere from 4 to 6 different email accounts/computers that they signed up with. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see that less than 500k actual people are signed up. Still an impressive number given the low amount of publicity that GW2 has had...outside of the 3.7 million facebook and twitter updates they sent out telling the world to sign up for beta.

Those numbers are probably inflated by multiple e-mails.

However, that is a pretty mind boggling amount of beta signups for a 48 hour period. They haven't been shooting for large market appeal yet, and the game's IP isn't that big, and to have numbers this large before marketing is quite an accomplishment.

I mean, hell, you're mad about them EXTENDING the beta sign-up for longer to give MORE people chances to get in? Honestly?

What if they had plans to get 1 million people into the beta, and then found out that they didn't hit their mark? What if that is why they extended it, and you now have to worry about GW2 not being popular enough?

Man I can't believe it. So last night I get home from work real late (1 am) and idk what gave me this idea to check out an update (I hadn't thought about the game in over a month AT LEAST) on Guild Wars 2 on IGN/Gamespot but there was no mention on either website for beta sign ups. So a little later on I google "Guild Wars 2 beta" because I was curious when they were going to have one and the second link i see is the official beta sign up. I load my specs and sign up not even knowing it was only for 48 hours. Again! for w/e reason I check out these forums and this post and now I see I was one lucky sob. Luck is it not!?
