    "Indy Games" Recommendations

I started playing Atom Zombie Smasher. Once you get into it, it's surprisingly a fun addicting game.
Braid and P.B. Winterbottom was pretty cool too.

Can anyone recommend any other good ones?

    Recommended in no particular order:

    1) Realm of the Mad God (Free)
    2) Limbo
    3) Minecraft
    4) Heroes of Newerth
    5) Cave Story
    6) Super Meat Bot
    7) Machinarium
    8) World of Goo
    9) Frozen Synapse
    10) P.B. Winterbottom
    11) Braid
    12) Atom Zombie Smasher

Realm of the Mad God (Free) and Limbo (cheap) are fun.

I'm thinking of trying RotMG, but visually it's very off putting.

Most of the Humble Bundle games are a good start.

Cave Story, Super Meat Boy, Minecraft, World of Goo, Machinarium, Frozen Synapse were all pretty good.

Minecraft is independent I think, a bit too time consuming for me though.
The nerve is called the "nerve of awareness". You cant dissect it. Its a current that runs up the center of your spine. I dont know if any of you have sat down, crossed your legs, smoked DMT, and watch what happens... but what happens to me is this big thing goes RRRRRRRRRAAAAAWWW! up my spine and flashes in my brain... well apparently thats whats going to happen if I do this stuff...

Heroes of Newerth ? It's big for an indy game.

Lemme fire up Steam and see what I got that I consider fun...

Ancients of Ooga and Cloning Clyde are both fun platformers.
    Bastion, for obvious reasons.
    Limbo, impressive.
Greed Corp and Gatling Gears. Two games that take place in the same world. First one is a strategy game, second is a dual-stick shooter.
Dungeons of Dredmor. Like a simple, turn-based (kinda) adventure game, completely randomized. Simple style to it, but can be quite challenging.
Orcs Must Die! and Dungeon Defenders are both great tower defense games. Dungeon Defenders definitely more fun in a group, though.
I really like Rochard, physics-based puzzle platformer.
Runespell: Overture is fun. Basically a fighting game with a poker-style fight mechanic. You'd have to see a video. :P
Sequence, another unusual game where the fights have a DDR mechanic, trying to hit falling arrows to the rhythm of music to cast spells.
Trine and Trine 2 are gorgeous and fun side-scrolling action games.
And of course, Terraria, fun sandbox/RPG style game. Sadly, the developer will not be making any new content, but I still find it fun.
Once you go troll, you never reroll. -heard on cynicalbrit.com. Epic.

Yes, pretty basic - almost looks like lego men.

    Pretty addictive gameplay though!

I guess the only problem with Limbo is that it's pretty short - but your first play through will have you pulling out your hair - try not to cheapen the thrill by using video guides!

Pretty sure it is; developed by Supergiant Games which is like .. 7 people.

I'd recommend Terraria, but the developers recently stated that they're stopping future development on it. Still, it's not a bad little timewaste.

Where the hell is The Binding of Isaac?!?!?!oneone

http://store.steampowered.com/app/113200/ , I've spent 40+ hours on this *amazing* indie game (and one of the two staff worked on Super Meat Boy), I'm making it a mission to tell people about this game.

I'd recommend joining the www.humblebundle.com mailing list. They do regular great deals where you get to pick the price you pay for a set of Indie games.

Some people don't understand that distributors don't actually make the games, pretty sure that's why that person doesn't consider it indy.

    It's published by Warner Bros.

Independent video games (commonly referred to as indie games) are video games created by individuals or small teams without video game publisher financial support. Indie games often focus on innovation and rely on digital distribution. Indie gaming has seen a rise in the last few years, primarily due to new online distribution methods and development tools.
