Very rarely do I see the other teams offlaner zoned out of XP range so they usually end up getting ahead in levels which almost entirely defeats the point of having a tri lane in the first place. As Lyssa said, if you're not winning your trilane, you're losing.
Come to think of it, the only time I really see tri lanes doing well is when they spend their time aggressively looking for kills on the other teams offlaner.
You and me both. I think the main issue here really is that playing a support, especially a teams only support, can be extremely unrewarding. If your team is losing I'd go as far as to say its an outright miserable experience. Couple that with your team mates having unrealistic expectations about what you can ward and the responsibility that comes along with it and its easy to see why people would want to avoid it. Also having practically no gold income means probably the most exciting item you can look forward to is a pair of Arcane boots. I think Support as a role should probably be looked at more closely, players tend to avoid it for good enough reasons for it to warrant it.
