If that's the motherboard you have now it does support overclocking.

exactly. Never works in my bios, unless it's in "8". Try it, might be worth a shot.

so for the first time i had a PSU die and take components with it, normally when they die they just die and you replace them, but this one took half the system with it

    Silverstone Strider 1500w victim list:
    1x 4930k CPU
    1x EVGA x79 Dark motherboard
    1x GTX-590
    3x 8GB Mushkin ddr3-1600 blackline dimms

needless to say, i wont be buying another silverstone PSU

The hell? Silverstone Strider series is pretty legendary in certain places I venture. To hear it broke is weird. My consolation though, that's a lot of money killed off by the PSU.

The odds of a reliable PSU failing and taking components with it is astronomical, but it does happen.

That's true enough. Still though, it's a bit like someone you know winning the lottery. Seems a bit unreal.

Holy shit. Half the system? That's all of it! Is it possible that the motherboard is partially at fault for letting components get affected like that? I know nothing of electronics

So which brand are you thinking of settling with now? Corsair AX? Seasonic?
WoW Character: Wintel - Frostmourne (OCE)

I got two vault portals off of two Treasure Goblins next to each other in Diablo 3. The odds of this are probably 1/1,000,000,000. Get at me.

Damn man that blows, are you able to warranty any of it? I know intel is pretty lax on warranty's I've sent two chips in for water damage from clients machines before and there was no fuss. Hopefully it gets sorted out for ya.

Also nothing wrong with toking in my book, personally I smoke Hash Oil and make it myself here, it's great when gaming and helps me sleep

it was pretty much due with an x99 replacement anyway, but as far as warranties go, its not really needed, we were able to piece the whole thing back together with spare parts minus the 590s, although, the x79 spare needed a bios update for the other 4930k

Nice, I think in all the shit I've repaired I've seen maybe 1 PSU take other components with it granted it was in a piece of shit workstation at a motor sports store chain we support.

I'm thinking about jumping on x99 myself I'm probably going to wait a month or so to see how everything goes with it. Let us know how x99 goes, I've talked with Deltrus a bit a he seems to have had a few issues but I'm tempted to jump on it as I've got that upgrade itch myself.

I should move to CO or WA were mary jane is legal, better yet they should legalize it everywhere but I'll still just make it myself, I'd love to open a shop myself but for now I'm stuck doing IT.

Eh. Nothing is issue free, especially so soon after launch. But I think after pushing the voltage to 1.3v... 4.2ghz is testing in OCCT for over 45 minutes. Gg!
