A question for you wise omniscients-

Is there a limit to how much RAM a computer can upgrade itself to? (Apart from the physical available slots)
And if so, how does one find out?

Motherboard boxes will often tell, your motherboard's webpage on newegg/its manufacturer's page, and also you need to be sure your Operating System supports the size of RAM.

For the OS, how might one verify that? Would there be a set amount for say, all Vista 32 bit users?

    32-bit is the key here.
32-bit is the one with limits to RAM, a total of 3.5-4.0 GiB can be used.

I am unsure how this works with Vista, but, your product key might work for 64 bit as well. This is the case with 7, iirc.

Though different 7 64 bit will let you have more RAM.

Curses. No RAM for me then. I'm maxed out at 4 gigs.

Yeah, I'm actually pondering a tablet or e-Reader right about now. Any specific one anyone here would recommend?

I doubt my mom would have wanted to buy me that, but frankly, I don't like tablets much/reading books on screens. x_x

    Lots of pictures?

Maybe for bludgeoning people that load twenty toolbars and 90% of the viruses that are on the internet and then complain to the system admin that their computer is really slow?
