what is a reference card? like what does it mean when a 680 is reference instead of normal?

A graphics card that is referred to as "reference" is basically the card that nVidia or AMD ship from the get-go. It comes with their cooler (almost always a "leafblower") and a standard PCB design.

Manufacturer like EVGA, MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte can then release cards that still use the reference PCB design but with an attached custom cooler, or release a custom PCB with perhaps better or more functions as well as a custom cooler. Some even come with waterblocks.

Reference IS the "normal" type. Basically when a new GPU releases, the very first lot of cards you'll see (from Asus/Gigabyte/EVGA/MSI, etc) are all reference cards - they have different stickers on top, but underneath they have the same circuit boards and same placement of everything as specified by nVidia. You'll also see some "OC" editions come out, but they're still reference just using better-binned chips.

Later on you see the non-reference stuff come up, i.e. cards that have modified circuit boards (better VRM's/capacitors/etc for overclocking) and feature high-performance coolers e.g. Asus Direct CUII, MSI Twin Frozr, EVGA Classified, etc.

So just this past Monday, I gave my final speech in my Speech class, a persuasive on the social issue of rape not being punished harshly enough, specifically at college campuses, and you know how many tabs I'd had open from all my research for that and kept in my pagefile/cache? Essentially I close out Chrome then open it back up and tell it to open all previously closed tabs, so I'd be opening up 40-50 tabs, finally Monday evening, I got to close, not 10, not 20, but 30 damned tabs from this research... You guys have no idea how nice it is to only be having about 20 tabs open again. XD

I've been pretty busy this week and haven't had much time to play around until last night but I'm pretty impressed with my new Sapphire 7970's so far in my new rig (you can see here), I bumped the core clock up to 1100 and memory clock up to 1500 on them and after 3 hours of battlefield 3 on ultra at 1080p the top card hit 83 degrees max and the bottom one hit 71 degrees max, the coolers seem to be pretty decent. My old 5970 with reference cooler hit 75 playing wow on high.

The fps was really solid, I only glanced at it now and them but it seemed pretty consistently above or around 100. Needless to say pretty happy with it overall it's a huge step up compared to my old computer

Considering making the switching to Chrome with all the crashes and stuttering/delays (delays on an SSD, dafuk?) Firefox has been giving me lately. I don't know what the hell they are doing with that browser.

Does Chrome have a bulletproof addon for downloading flash videos (e.g. Youtube or Pornhub--I MEAN PONIES)?

I have not heard of any addon for Chrome to do that, after all, Chrome is powered by Google, not a community of OSS developers. =/

Adblock, Reddit Enhancement Suite, Image Resolution are the only addons I have

Adblock I like more than Adblock Plus

RES is self-explanatory

Image Resolution is something I found yesterday that finally does exactly what I wanted. When I hover over an image it gives me a little dialogue box in the upper right that tells me the resolution of the image and the file size of it. Nothing more. Super simplistic, only downside is that any options you change require you to restart Chrome (I thought it was broken at first)
