    BIOS? spoiled noobs:

when dip switches replaced jumpers, that was high tech

  7. #3907
How did that work, did the switches change the display on the screen, or was it totally flying blind?

I prefer this old look compared to the new and shiny stuff that comes with every new-ish motherboard :P

So did Gigabyte for quite a long time, they adamantly stuck to the classic looks while Asus and MSI started exploring UEFI.

Eventually they developed some half-baked approach and received a lot of harsh criticism, so now they're fully UEFI to the point of their BIOS looking more or less the same as every other manufacturer (albeit using different colors :P).

    It's teh future!

Write them an email and suggest they give you the choice of alternative UEFI skins, and suggest a classic blue/white theme for one of them.

If BIOS had the same upstart time as UEFI, I'd love to keep going on with BIOS. Sadly, this won't be my choice nor will it be the case.

yeah, the uefi on my RIVE is too fast, it often takes a few restarts and mad keyboard spam to get in, i get to see the splash screen for maybe 1/2 a second

I have an option in my Sabertooth UEFI to show the *press delete NOW* screen for a certain period of time (I have it set to one second). It appeared out of nowhere when I last updated my UEFI version (and, as always, there was no mention of it in the patch-notes).

Guh...it sounds like I need to get a new gpu, sounds like its ball bearing is going out. The 7070 does not look that bad, though I do see everyone with gtx 680...are amd drivers so bad?

Also to get to my bios I basically mash my keyboard until the drivers come up.

    Don't go there :S

Get 7970 if you like red, 680 if you like green.

Ignore everything anyone else says on this topic after this post....

I've historically have extremely minute issues with AMD, yet daily issues with nVidia.
In short, it depends. If I were to get a card based on hassle-free drivers, I would personally go with AMD. This is not the answer for everyone, but it's the answer for me.

I'll just sum up the posts we'll be getting, so you guys dont have to make them!

    AMD is best!

    No! Nvidia is best!

    No! AMD is best!

    No! Nvidia is best!

    No! AMD is best!

    No! Nvidia is best!

    They both work fine, ty.

Mod Edit: While I appreciate the sentiment, only a few lines were needed to get the point across. Please refrain from making your posts unnecessarily long. --Eternal
