    [Priest] Ask a Beta Tester! MoP edition

    So this, right here, is a compilation of questions that we, as a class, want to ask our Beta Testers.
    Kudos to Brusalk for starting this thread while I was still passed out being a sleepy-bean.
    This will be mechanics based. Numbers will be tweaked at least 18 times a build, so no one can really say how things will work out.

    "Does Mind Spike do more damage than X" is especially useless, so let's keep those types of questions out.

    Alright, so what're your questions?


    Answered Questions:
    1) Where are our Hymns? What are their spec limitations, cooldowns? Any change to their effects?
    -Hymn of Hope remains for all three specs. Divine Hymn is Holy exclusive. No change to effects.
    2) How does Shadow sustain its mana pool now?
    -Base mana regen, Shadowfiend, Dispersion, as of this build.
    3)Is Devouring Plague really gone? Can you spam cast SWP or does it give you a more powerful spell is active error like DP does right now?
    -SWP has taken on IDP, but does not seem to have the issue of refreshing that DP did on live.
    4) Can you still multi-dot SWP?
    -Yup.
    5) How do the apparitions behave? Do they still behave like they do on live?

    Unanswered Questions:
    Is Rapture still based off of the unscaling maximum mana pool?

    What do the Atonement/Smite/Divine Accuracy glyphs look like now?


    With the new limited healing spell repertoire, is Shadow still locked from all of them?
    Is Divine Insight running from Shadow Apparitions or Mind Blast?
    Does anything effect the proc chance for orbs, or is it still static?

    So this is where we put our stuff. The idea for this thread comes back from the one I did in Cataclysm's beta, right here.

    • From Darkness Comes Light - Surge of Darkness has been redesigned. Ticks from Vampiric Touch allow your Mind Spike to be instant cast and not remove your DoT effects.
    • Divine Star has moved to tier 6 (leaving a gap for now). It can be cast in Shadow Form.
    Tier 4
    • Final Prayer has been removed.
    • Angelic Bulwark now increases Binding Heal, Heal, Power Word: Shield, Divine Aegis, Spirit Shell, and Vampiric Embrace on yourself.
    • Void Shift has moved to Tier 4.
    Tier 5
    • Divine Insight - Mind Blast hits have a chance to allow you to cast Shadow Word: Death as if the target was in execute range.
    Tier 6
    • Vow of Unity - "cannot be cast on Tank Specialized players". 15 second duration, 2 minute cooldown, all healing on both targets is shared (100%, from any source), and a portion of damage will travel in both directions as well.




    Spells
    • Dispel Magic now has an 8 second cooldown, removing one buff from your enemy.
    • Cure Disease has been removed
    • Purify (*new spell*) 8 second cooldown, removes all magic effects and diseases from one ally.
    • Psychic Scream is once again baseline
    • Inner Fire The spellpower increase is percentage based, rather than a flat value.

    Shadow
    • Shadow Word: Death - Execute range reduced to 20%, but damage buffed to 4x. Now includes the former cooldown reset baseline.
    • Shadow Word: Pain now deals part of its damage instantly
    • Spectral Guise has returned
    • Shadow Orbs have a new UI element.
    • Vampiric Embrace is now a 3 minute cooldown for increased effect.
    • Vampiric Touch no longer regenerates mana to the casting Priest.
    • Mind Blast once again has a 6 second cooldown, but now generates Shadow Orbs rather than consuming them.
    • Mind Spike no longer consumes Shadow Orbs
    • Shadow Apparitions - Redesigned as a spell. Consume all your Shadow Orbs, creating one Apparition per Orb consumed.
    • Psychic Horror - 45 second cooldown, Consumes all Shadow Orbs. Horror effect lasts X seconds + Y per Orb, disarm duration remains unchanged.
    • Shadow Orb Power: (Shadow mastery) has been redesigned. Your periodic damage increases per point of mastery, and your Shadow Apparitions have a chance to refund you a Shadow Orb upon materialization.


    Glyphs
    • Glyph of Circle of Healing - The mana cost has been increased to 35% (up from 20).
    • Glyph of Prayer of Mending - Increases the healing of the first charge by 60%, but the spell now has one reduced charge
    • Glyph of Power Word: Shield - Converts 20% of the shield's absorb into a heal (no longer additional).
    • Glyph of Mind Melt - Damage with Mind Spike reduces the cast time of Mind Blast by
    • Glyph of Reflective Shield - X% of the damage absorbed by your own Power Word: Shield is reflected back at its source, causing no threat.
    • Glyph of Strength of Soul - Activating Inner Focus causes you to be immune to Silence, Interrupts, and Dispel for 5 seconds.
    • Glyph of Purify heals your target X% upon successful removal of debuffs.
    • Glyph of Leap of Faith removes movement imparing effects from your target
    • Glyph of Holy Fire - Your Holy Fire is now instant cast.
    • Glyph of Lightwell has been reduced to +2 charges (down from +5).
    • Glyph of Dispel Magic deals Holy damage on cast.

    Some New MoP Priest Info!

    Was investigating the priest spells on wowdb.com. Found a few interesting things!

    Shadow Word: Death
    So, a few interesting things. 1: It has no listed CD, but I assume it's going to remain at 12 seconds.
    It's also going to reset the cd exactly as the glyph does.

    Execute range is changed to 20%, but buffed to 4x damage. (This may be a tooltip change. Not sure)

    Serendipity has been changed:
    For shadow, when your Apparitions hit the target, you can instantly use SWD as if its under 20% health.


    Edit:
    Devouring Plague seems to be gone.

    Mind Control seems to have changed to Dominate Mind: http://www.wowdb.com/spells/605-dominate-mind

    Spectral Guise appears to remain as our new ability.

    Desperate Prayer can't be used in sform.

    Mind Melt is now a glyph

    Serendipity
    When you heal with Binding Heal or Flash Heal, the cast time of your next Greater Heal or Prayer of Healing spell is reduced by 20% and mana cost reduced by 10%. Stacks up to 2 times. Lasts 20 sec.




    Shadow of Death
    When your Shadowy Apparitions deal damage, your next Shadow Word: Death will treat the target as if it is below 20% health.


    It's the same old same old for healers, but for shadow! We now have a proc in the rotation for SWD!
    Here's the SWD Spell: http://www.wowdb.com/spells/32379-shadow-word-death

    A word of dark binding that inflicts 0 Shadow damage to the target, and to the caster.

    If the target is below 20% health, the target takes four times as much damage.

    If the target dies, the caster takes no damage. If the target does not die, the cooldown is reset. This reset cannot happen more often than once every 6 sec.

    That's basically everything the mmo-champ db lists for shadowpriests.

    Additional:
    1) Crap of Unity cannot be cast on Tanks! Yay.

    Things i found:

    Mind Blast
    0 Mana 40 yd range
    1.5 sec cast 6 sec cooldown
    Can be cast in Shadowform
    Blasts the target for X Shadow damage and generates X Shadow Orbs.

    Shadow Word: Pain
    0 Mana 40 yd range
    Instant
    Can be cast in Shadowform
    A word of darkness that causes 0 Shadow damage instantly, and an additional 0 Shadow damage over 18 sec.
    Generates X Shadow Orbs for Shadow Priests.

    Devouring Plague has got merged into Shadow Word: Pain.

    So these two spells will generate Orb as it seems.


    Shadowy Apparition
    1 13 40 yd range
    Instant
    Consumes all Shadow Orbs to summon shadow versions of yourself which will slowly move toward your target. Upon reaching the target, each will instantly deal 0 shadow damage. One Shadowy Apparition is summoned per Shadow Orb consumed.

    Psychic Horror
    1 13 30 yd range
    Instant 45 sec cooldown
    Consumes all Shadow Orbs to terrify the target, causing them to tremble in horror for 1 sec plus 1 sec per Shadow Orb consumed and to drop their main hand and ranged weapons for 10 sec.

    Shadow Orb Power
    Each Shadowy Apparition you summon has a X% chance to refund you a Shadow Orb when it materializes.
    In addition, your periodic Shadow damage spells deal X% increased damage.

    Glyph of Mind Melt
    When you deal damage with Mind Spike, the cast time of your next Mind Blast is reduced by 50% lasting 6 sec. Mind Melt can stack up to 2 times.

    Vampiric Embrace
    Instant 3 min cooldown
    Fills you with the embrace of Shadow energy, causing you and your allies to be healed for 50% of any single-target Shadow spell damage you deal, split evenly between them. Lasts 15 sec.

    Spectral Guise
    Instant 30 sec cooldown
    Your shadow blurs into the darkness, leaving your true form behind. As a shadow you are invisible, but remain in combat. Lasts 6 sec or until your true form is hit by 3 direct attacks.

    So it seems Spectral Guise is our lvl 87 spell. I will tell you more when the servers come up.

    I'm ok with these changes.
    I reported lamb of log twice, once for having a slow car and once for trolling.

    Additional:
    1) Surge of Darkness changed so that VT and SW:P have a chance to let your Spike not remove DoTs.
    2) Path of the Devout now also increases movespeed for 30 sec after levitate drops.

    Phantasm
    When you Fade, you remove all movement impairing effects from yourself, you become untargetable by ranged attacks, and your movement speed is unhindered for 3 sec.

    If they get rid of the backlash on Shadow Word: Death I will be forever happy. If not, its gonna suck knowing you can't use a proc'd Shadow Word: Death cause you might kill yourself.

    Shockingly many of these changes seem quite logical, intelligent, and strong, so assuming this is a new trend I would be surprised if SWD continued to return a large percent of the damage done. Maybe up to 30% but I'll be very disappointed if it's higher than that.

    What worries me is Shadowy Apparitions. Making it the way to consume orbs is neat, but if they move and act like they do on live that'll just be pitifully bad.
