I don't like Jack and Coke (Or variants)

Am I weird? A lot of my buddies seem to think Jack and Coke is the nectar of the gods. I like coke. I think adding hard liquor to it just ruins the taste completely. If I'm going to drink I'll do shots or drink beer. Why do so many people like jack and coke?

As you get older you will most likely start enjoying Wine and Scotch/Whiskey and laugh at the 'kids' drinking their disgusting sweet/sugary drinks

I have bad memories of JD, i don't usually get ill from drinking, but for some reason, that shit made me feel like i wanted to die. Then again, that might have had something to do with the fact that i mixed alot of drinks the last time i drank it. Still, im not overly keen on it, usually if I'm drinking I'll just stick to beer and vodka. (not together)

mmm I'm 23, but I think I'll always be a beer guy. Mostly because I rarely drink.

Not weird at all. I cannot stand the taste of most beer. Whether it be Coors/Molson or actual beers made from a true brewery. I just can't stand to drink it. On the other hand I love rye and rum, but most of my friends can't stand it. I can sit and drink, say, Crown Royal straight. It tastes great in my opinion. When it comes to alcohol, it's really a personal thing.

I generally stick with heavier, dark beers (stouts ftw). If not beer, then I'll drink Absinthe.

If I do drink a 'blank' and coke, I'll drink a Cuba Libre and I'll use ron Zacapa and coke.

Well, I think its called an acquired taste. But I'm not sure if Jack and Coke style of drinks are acquired tastes or just a "you like it or you dont" sort of thing.

It's alright. I'll drink it if it's there, but there are drinks I prefer.

While I agree with most everything you said, I will say that it isn't just a fad of younger adults/teens, adults of all ages and social status are guilty of this crime. Here in Wisconsin, there are 9 bars for every grocery store, last time I checked there are 50+ bars within 2 miles of my house. 90% of the drinks being served are either cheap beer or rail mixers. I think mixing soda with whiskey or rum is a waste and the only thing I mix with cheaper rums is pineapple juice. Whatever is advertized and popular is what ppl will drink, most adults are no wiser and less likely to be duped then teens or low twenties. You go to a civilized part of the world and you wouldn't be able to convince a 16 year old to take a pull of JD. They already have sampled fine scotches, whiskeys, Belgium ales and premier wines. In the US the majority of ppl just act like trailer trash.

if i have no beer i always have a spare bottle of straight burbon just incase a mate comes over to hang. but i prefer beer or vodka so much more than jim beam or jack.

I enjoy coke (when I drink pop) but I had one too many bad nights with mixed drinks in college. Maybe because coke is easy to go down and I like strong drinks but whenever I mix whiskey and coke I end up sick.

I'm personally a Jim Beam drinker, and prefer what is essentially JB on the rocks with a splash of coke for color/flavor.
