Honestly, I skipped to episode 10 or 11, but I have seen every episode since. I know exactly what you mean though.

I watch a lot of TV and I simply could not get into Mad Men. I really wanted to. It looked alright. From what I hear though, it appeals more as eye candy for the ladies.

It's a slow burn. It's a decent drama. Not my favourite show. If you find yourself getting bored then it's probably not for you.

Yup.

I watched through the entire first season. It was well written and well acted... but over all just boring. I didn't feed into the implied suspense or stress of the characters. The plot wasn't really selling itself to me.

If you aren't into it three episodes in you will never be into it. It is definitely one of those shows where you are in or out almost immediately.

The moment I went from simply liking the show, to loving it I need to buy these DVDs now, was when they are having an office party and a secretary runs over a big shot British ad guy with a lawn tractor. It was surreal but at the same time something you could absolutely see happening with how much they all drink constantly and how fucked up they all are.

I take it you're not a big fan of post-rock, ambient, field recordings, drone and soundscapes?

Personally, the show got good about ten minutes into the first episode. I enjoy watching men in suits being professional.

Bingo. I need to get around to watching all of that, Deadwood, and the Sopranos on HBOGO since it is on XBox now. Never seen the entire series of any of those shows and I really need to.
