    [GW2] A gaming laptop

    Hey guys,

I've used the search function and I couldn't find a thread covering my following question.

I've got a massive rig at home, but I travel a lot so I'm looking for a gaming laptop able to handle GW2 at max settings. First of all let me mention that I'm a sucker for looks. My first choice goes to a Macbook Pro, but I reckon its hardware is not nearly good enough to play high-end games. I was also considering Razer's Blade, but that too is an over-priced machine with sub-par hardware.

I was wondering if any of you had some good advice for a gaming laptop that doesn't look like a cheap piece of plastic crap. I'm not really limited by a budget, so have at it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Every laptop or PC that got sold in the past year can run GW2. Probably only on the lowest graphics tough

Alienware is just a bunch of BS, I'm sorry. You're paying for overpriced crap that's only expensive because of the brand. You're better of creating your own PC. It costed me 600 dollars and it's one of the best you could get a year ago...

The reason you did not find a thread on this subject is because there is a whole subforum based on it.
This question realistically has almost nothing to do with GW2, besides the fact that one of the games you will be playing on the laptop is GW2.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll see if I can manage to move this thread to the correct-subforum with a moderator's help.

Alienware I'd rather not get since the look like crap (imo)

"You're better of creating your own PC."

You haven't read my question mate

any recent laptop should be able to run it. If it can fun BF3, it can definitely run GW2.

That much I know. But I'm not the type that settles for mediocre. I want it to run perfectly smooth at max settings but I reallllly don't want to be seem with a flashy toy laptop with alienheads or Ferrari signs. I need the IWC of laptops, not the Gshock

You might want to look for a website in your country or ships to there, that sells custom built Clevo laptops, they don't look "flashy" as in Alienware etc, but you'll get some nice specs for cheaper.

You could try a site like PCSpecialist if you're in the UK. Great advice on the forums and their customer service is legendary.

Forget a laptop, youll pay twice as much for half the features of a desktop. build your own tower and save a ton.

For decent performance and simplicity go for something on the asus line of "gaming" laptops, do keep in mind that no laptop will ever beat a desktop in performance at close price ranges.

I don't want to replace my rig with a laptop mate, I need it as a supplement for when I travel. I received a few PM's with possible notebooks, so thanks for that guys! Unfortunately they still look like utter crap, the Asus ones too

The Macbook Pro doesn't have great game oriented hardware, but it should be able to do the job. Hmm, if they would only upgrade Razer Blade's graphical chip, damn it!

I don't think you'll find a good one anywhere that isn't totally overpriced (Alienware). Razer released a gaming laptop sometime ago, but it's, well.. just look for yourself. http://store.razerzone.com/store/raz...oryId.57876700

The graphical card is the only thing holding me back with the Razer Blade. Apple should start making gaming notebooks. They quality they provide is unparalleled imo.

    1st grade flamebait.
That being said, Apple is not some magic product. If you want quality build it yourself. Every single computer I've assemble is still fully functional so the oldest one is 14 years. Granted the harddrive has been replaced in some of them.

It's not in their market and likely won't be for quite some time. That said, if you're not adverse to shelling out some cash:

Would unquestionably run it at max settings in most instances where you're playing, although expect FPS to drop more than it would on a comparable PC simply because Notebook hardware is inferior by nature. The only thing I would think of as a possible problem with maximum settings are fairly populated world bosses.

With whatever laptop you decide make sure it can cope with the heat.

A few friends mac book pro's have been cooked within 2 years and then its problems from there out.

I've noticed the build quality from razer and alienware is a bit dodgy.

Personally, if you have alot of disposable income then a gaming laptop is great as long as you don't mind replacing it every 2-3years and are fine with waiting a month or two when it needs repaired.
