Transfer the toon you have your pets on live to beta again. Log in. Then log out. Voila! you can thank me later.

Actually, I am still able to access my Lashtail Hatchling, but it won't let me choose it for battle.

I think the system wasn't updated so it could recognized pets you received previously. Probably will fix it soon.

It was a bug. When they implemented pet battles they accidently overwrote the existing pet data with blank pet data.
I'm 99% sure that won't happen when 5.0 goes live.FFXIV - Maduin (Dynamis DC)
