If you look up ancient chinese/japanese armor. Some (few) will have hair attached to it.
I think the face and hair are very samurai inspired (obviously with some warcraft flare).
In response to it looking like ICC hunter armor set... well ya the horn... but this is waaaay cooler than that ever was.

Does have kind've an anime beastie appearance to it. I felt it was a bit crypt-lordy as well, although crypt lords don't have manes. I expect it would be more insectile if it was meant to be full-on crypt lord inspired.
Wouldn't mind a big hefty beetle for a death knight armor style...
