I used to buy all elder scrolls games under 18 . It's that I am 18 or I would have certainly still have gotten it.

But from a bussiness standpoint this is interesting aswell. You will lose the 12-17 market in theory but you will also gain many gamers that don't want the kiddo's that other mmo's have. Besides this, I don't there is no p2p 18+ mmo at the moment nor any good 18+ mmo's at the moment (no conan is not a good mmo). I think it might strengthen the "niche" Teso has been trying to get.
I don't think it'll put that many kids off. Parents who look at this game will see a fantasy game in which you use magic to defeat bosses. Kids are going to think themselves "cooler" for playing an adult game and may be more likely to want it in the first place. Parents are not going to see it as much different to any other MMO... and considering the number of digital purchases, many teens won't even need to get their parents to go into a store.

As I said in theory. You are talking about what happens in 'reallife'. I am assuming it from the theory thus that means no one under 18 will get it. In that case you will lose the market. But because the 'theory' excists those that don't want the 12-17 market might join your game more likely.

But in real life theory doesn't happen very often, but many that don't want the 12-17 market might still go for it as they assume they will not be there, because in 'theory' they aren't there.

No an exact science, but based on TF's poll about 18% are 17 and under. I am sure it will curve up after release. But I don't think this will have any affect on sales, if it does it will be very little.

Well for that reason I split the market after the point into 12-15 and 16-17. 16-17 will most likely still get the game and don't care. 12-15 might have some losses, but some might still get it. That poll does indeed view that 'many' are 17 and under doesn't tell us how many are 15 or 16 for instance. Besides this, it's a fansite on the internet you can wonder if this is an actual representatation of those that will get teso in the end.

you're fighting a daedric prince known as "the king of rape", just the lore alone is enough for a mature rating. elder scrolls lore is rife with rape and underhanded things.

They can kinda do pretty much everything they want now, that is good aswell. As I am quite sure they held alot of things back to get a possible T rating. But now that won't happen they can make things more mature on future releases as they won't change anything now.

although sticking to how the game currently is wouldn't hurt either as now it's good.

Didn't know that, looked it up to be sure, and what do you know you were right. He is known as the "God/King of Rape". I am sure that played somewhat of a role.

So it would seem, was an insteresting read. I might be one of the few players that didn't really play TES games, bar a few hours of oblivion on my ps3, but is interested in TESO . So my knowledge of TES lore goes as far as knowing in TES games people are always prisoners when they start. Hopefully TES might actually convince me to give the other TES games a good go.

Thats why im glad ESO will have a subscription fee. Those 13 yo will have to ask for a CC from their parents and hopefully a big percentage will ask "what for?".

So you want TESO to make less money?
    (Warframe) - Dragon & Typhoon-
(Neverwinter) - Trickster Rogue & Guardian Fighter -

There's also Namira, who among other things is called "Devourer of the Dead" and whose followers eat dead people.

Then you have Sanguine, who is basically the god of getting drunk and banging whores. He can cast a spell that takes everyone's clothes off.

The Daedric Princes are all very interesting characters. TES lore is in my opinion one of the greatest things ESO (potentially, depending upon execution) has to offer.

If you're interested in the lore and you don't know much about it, this video on the Daedric Princes is definitely worth watching. If you find it enjoyable, then these guys have a whole TES lore video series you can watch.

I love Shoddycast and watched pretty much all their lore videos, they are interesting and well produced. But man if you go to /r/teslore they rip them to shreds every single time. I don't care much for it, I am not a lore extremist but it is always funny to watch.

Yeah, the thing about TES lore is that it's almost never 100% verifiable or set in stone. A lot of it comes in the form of hearsay or reading books in-game. You are almost always getting a somewhat biased perspective because of that, and you'll often read two books on the same subject by two different authors who can have very different accounts. I also think that makes it more interesting since it's like real history in that sense.

The Shoddycast videos aren't as all-encompassing as some lore fanatics might prefer, but I don't think that's their intent. If you want a general idea of what's going on, and you're not familiar with the lore or TES games in general, they're an excellent place to start. Also, as you said, the production value is pretty high for YouTube content.

Agreed, I especially love their race lore videos. And good for them it paid off, I had subscribed to them when they had less than 200 subs, now they have close to 150k. Crazy how fast they grew. Example of a race lore video below:

In this video it's clear the field of view is pathetically low for a PC game, and an 8 minute video is enough to make me nauseous, and according to http://help.elderscrollsonline.com/a...fore-launch%3F there isn't going to be an option to change it.

No chance at all that I'll be playing the game if they don't change this.
I don't think this matters nearly as much as you think it does.

I'd much rather have them keep the rating than compromise the lore and general feeling of the game to get a more kid friendly rating, even if it means less sales

This, and it will sell just as good if not better than with a teen rating.
