I thought they said you would have to upgrade to the Imperial edition after launch to get access to the Imperials.
About whether the Imperials will be unlockable by in-game means, for one. If they are, people who bought the Imperial edition are going to be pissed. If they're not, Zenimax will have gone back on their promise of no pay-gated content.
Also the any race/any faction bonus for preordering: will this be available later, or is anyone who doesn't preorder out of luck permanently? If it will be available later, by what means? Cash shop, or something in-game? And why was the decision made to allow cross-faction at all, after hyping up the faction war so much?
Questions need answers.
The statue was decided upon months and months before the ESRB rating was revealed. Their decision to include it is independent of the ESRB rating of the game.
They're not embracing it, they're just not going to fight it. Fighting it would take too much time and effort now, and would likely require them make some serious changes to elements of the game that they just don't have time for and don't want to as it would impact their creative vision for the game.
The thing is if they do unlock it later they will piss off the people who got the special version just to play that race. Then you get the people who didn't get it for the race but feel cheated that those who didn't get the special version can play something they originally had to pay for.
Unless they change it before release and make it playable for all at the start this is a no win spot for them.
Whoever though it was a good idea to lock a race behind a paywall like that needs a huge slap.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed regarding locking the Imperials behind a pay wall, but they're bland imo, so it's okay. :P

I bought the Imperial edition and wouldn't mind if Imperials were unlockable in game. Just make it take some effort into unlocking it.
I think the Imperial edition wouldn't be a huge deal if it was essentially an Imperial shortcut with a reskined horse.

Thats shitty a race should not be locked behind a paywall even more so in a p2p MMO.
They are already tripple dipping with a Shop/Sub/Box Price and now this. I really want to check out ESO but its really shitty that even after dropping $60 there is still major content I wouldn't own unless I drop a extra $20-$40.

They probably expected to slip under to Teen, but it got rated M. They said they won't fight it, but they sure are embracing it. Look at the banner ad on the top right of MMO champion, the M rating takes like 30% of the image. Not sure what the law is on those banner ads but they do seem to be showing it off on all the websites including IGN and Gamespot. They are almost saying, he guys we are dark and gritty we are rated M. Even their advertising is darker and grittier.

"But WoW does it" is not an excuse. Not after announcing this:
The Elder Scrolls games are all about allowing the player to go where they want, be who they want, and do what they want. We feel that putting pay gates between the player and content at any point in game ruins that feeling of freedom, and just having one small monthly fee for 100% access to the game fits the IP and the game much better than a system where you have to pay for features and access as you play."
"Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being 'monetized' in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days," he added. "The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all.
Yes I don't like WoW's tripple dipping ether but the differene is. Lets say Vanilla WoW release's tomorrow. You get all the content with it and when TBC drops you get all the content with that.
This is ESO's Vanilla drop and yet a major peace of content "A Race" will be locked behind a paywall. Things like mounts, hats, rings ect... I don't count as major content and its fine if people get a little bonus for paying extra. But a race is a BIG NO in my book. Race's are major content and provide many hours of gameplay per reach and a shit ton of lore behind them. Things like that should not be locked behind a "Pay a little extra you get it" Paywall.

But there is talk about the being unlock-able in game.
The Imperials is not the main thing bothering me though, the ffa factions on the other hand...
I don't see the big deal with whatever WoW is doing but I'm more interested in the whole all races can go across all faction thingie.
This.ffa factions on the other hand...

Woah there...exaggerate much? There is no major content involved. There is one race. They don't have a special area, special quests, special anything really except for their racials.
It's been pretty much confirmed by support that Imperials will be unlockable in the future. Since I could care less - if others want links - well, google it - I can't be bothered ;P!
