    Weird distortion on screen

    Hello,

Well over the past few days this has been happening randomly, It seems to come and go and when I mouseover certain parts of my screen it will come on then if I move the mouse away it will go (This also doesn't happen all the time).

I was wondering if it was something wrong with my graphics card or what the problem could be (While typing this it randomly flashed across the top of my screen). It seems to have gotten worse today.

Does anyone have any idea what this may be?

    Agree.

Run memtestCL (VRAM test for AMD)

Buying a new graphics card, cant be fixed. Should do it anyway since the current one is rather old.

I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card at some point, I've been wanting to go with Nvidia, do you have any suggestions on what is compatible and what would be a good low, medium and high range graphics card.

    CPU:
    Intel Core i5-4670k CPU @ 3.40GHz 4.20GHz

    Motherboard:
    MSI Z87-G43

I'm not sure if this problem is connected but as of today I've started getting freezes (It will just totally freeze and I will have to switch my computer off by the plug and back on for it to work).

It's seeming more likely that I will have to replace my Graphics card.

Very likely if that happens while playing games. Broken graphics card can indeed cause both garbled picture or just lock down the whole system. Random dots, lines or strange triangles across the screen are also common symptoms of failing GPU/VRAM.
