MMO-Champion Ultimate Showdow Round 2 Match 4: Yoda vs. Cthulhu

    Brackets located here

    Match 4 features Yoda

Yoda is a Jedi master in the Star Wars universe, and is one of the most renowned and powerful Jedi Masters in galactic history. He was known for his legendary wisdom, mastery of the Force and skills in lightsaber combat. He is responsible for training Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Jedi. He also trained other Jedi, including Mace Windu, Count Dooku, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto. During Attack of the Clones, Yoda leads an army of Jedi and clone troopers in the film's climactic battle scene. He helps rescue Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padmé from execution at the hands of the Separatists. At the climax of the battle, Yoda duels with Separatist leader and Sith Lord Count Dooku (Christopher Lee), his former Jedi apprentice. Although seemingly frail, the ancient Yoda demonstrates agility and mastery of lightsaber combat and acrobatics through the Force. This confrontation ends with Dooku making his escape by threatening Yoda's comrades, Anakin and Obi-Wan.
In Revenge of the Sith, Yoda battles Palpatine in a lightsaber duel that wrecks the Senate Rotunda. At the climax of the duel, Yoda holds back the Sith Lord's Force lightning, creating a blast of energy that knocks him to the Senate floor. Yoda is forced to retreat and go into exile on Dagobah so that he may hide from the Empire and wait for another opportunity to destroy the Sith. At the end, it is revealed that Yoda has been in contact with Qui-Gon's spirit, learning the secret of immortality from him and passing it on to Obi-Wan.

    Versus Cthulhu

Cthulhu is a cosmic entity in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. It is described as an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature, a pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings", and "a mountain walked or stumbled. He once ruled over the earth, and communicated with humans telepathically. He lived in the stone city of R'lyeh with the other "Great Old Ones", but eventually the city sank beneath the ocean, trapping them inside. Cults who remember the telepathic message existed afterwards, continuing to worship him.

Cthulhu was defeated and semi killed by having a steamboat driven into him. And someone like Yoda, who is basically raw willpower and self control is the perfect counter the Cthulhu's powers, that mainly deal with manipulation.

That leaves Cthulhu's super strength and size against Yoda's speed, agility, and force techniques. Pretty sure Yoda can produce more energy through a force push than a steamboat being driven at full speed. And that's just with what he does in the movies. If you get into expanded universe stuff, Yoda's a lot more powerful than most people think.

Gotta give the fight to Yoda.

Cthulu without a doubt, he would just shred Yoda's mind into insanity, or squash him, whatever he decided to do first.

Semi-killed? His entire being reformed after they rammed the ship into him. R'lyeh sunk again and trapped him inside. His powers aren't really gone in depth.

After playing Cthulhu saves the world, my vote is on him.

Lmfao people thinking squid face would drive Yoda insane by getting into his head. Yoda was one of the most powerful Jedi of his time, the Jedi specialize in mind tricks, therefore they don't work on them (masters at least). Yoda isn't a weak minded nobody. Yoda is the definition of resolve, and self discipline.

Yoda would cut the squid up, cook it, and serve the calamari in the Jedi temple.

    Its a trap!

1 vs. 1, tough fight, assuming C'thun *cough* I mean C'thulhu's mind tricks won't work on Yoda, he'd still have his work cut out, finding a way to defeat him.

But I wanna ask - are we talking Yoda as featured up to about 30 minutes into Return of the Jedi, or 'Ghost Yoda' who is 'more powerful than you could possibly imagine' *and then some* (giving that Yoda > Obi-Wan)...

    Just axin'

Except Cthulhu doesn't use mind tricks, your brain can't comprehend his very sight causing it to explode.

Cthulhu is awesome, but Yoda is one of my favorite characters ever, and probably the only thing I like about Star Wars.
