I have spent over 1000 hours in Opentdd, Sid Meiers Railroads - not fond of art style and gameplay, never tried the second game but I tried Transport fever 1 something didn't fit.
    I hate VR.
I found a browser game called Railnation. Late game electric engines look very nice there, so I was wondering if there is a proper game that focuses on modern date locomotives.
When I play Opentdd I enjoy playing with modern/future trains like monorails trains or vactrains.
It doesn't need to be a game that has top-notch graphics but i would like to that the locomotives to look good and the gameplay to be rather good.
I know finding a good game could be hard in this dying age is rather hard that is why i am seeking aid the forums.

Transport fever 2 is a lot more enjoyable than 1 IMO and I've had a lot of fun making some epically huge (and eventually pretty much fully electric) networks with massive freight yards and passenger hubs etc - there's a crapload of mods, including some very nice decor pieces, for it too which is always nice

Is there anything similar to the setting and/or gameplay of Battlefield 2142?

any games that can scratch the itch of selling gems (or any other items for that matter) on WoW's auction house? beside EVE online or any other mmorpg.
i remember selling epic gems at the beginning of legion expansion. it was like printing money. i was making DAILY what other ppl wanted to make monthly for the WoW token.
i tried getting back into modern WoW with the dragonflight, but they really unnecessarily complicated professions and how items are made, so i dropped that and stopped playing without reliving the previous sucess.

i know this is a weird one, but i decided to ask anyway

Don't look at modern MMOs as in those games professions don't matter outside of really niche endgame raiding for the latest raid tier. You will want to look at old school MMOs, particularly the ones where items can be stolen or destroyed. So Ultima Online, SWG, and Shadowbane.

is there any game that captures the sense of journey like in classic WoW? like completing quest chains for attunements around the world and whatnot. but something that isnt BG3. im not into CRPG game with lots of text (lore is ok) but little active combat. i like to control my character as in be able to jump etc.

is skyrim that thing? i tried playing that game several times since 2011 but always bounced off. maybe this is the time? avowed seems like woke ruined garbage that i certainly wont buy for the full price of 70 dollars anyway.
whats the best skyrim version available on steam with/without mods?

If you're willing to give a JRPG a shot, Xenoblade Chronicles fits this description pretty neatly. It was recently remastered and is quite enjoyable. It does get a bit dense with its lore towards the end but the world is open and immersive and the general plot beats keep you guessing all the way til the end.

Well, there's a new remaster for Xenoblade Chronicles X coming out later this week. (Yeah, Tetsuya ain't the best at naming his games lol.) This one is a remaster of the relatively unpopular Wii U game. It's a standalone but still worth a play. The remaster seems to be addressing many of the OG's flaws and the story is pretty fantastic.

Avowed is worth trying if you have gamepass, it's more fun than the rep it has gotten. Not worth $70 though, definitely wait for a sale without GP.

Main issue with Skyrim is that the base game is awful by 2025 standards (wasn't great then, either) but you can mod it to be anything you want. Unfortunately, that is a process that can take FOREVER and its a rabbit hole I'd personally avoid.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is pretty fun if you like that style of combat, though again probably not worth $70 imo.

You could also try Elder Scrolls Online for free. There are good and bad things about it, really depends if it clicks for you. If nothing else, there is a ridiculously enormous world at this point

Sacred 2. Diablo style game with a giant open world, tons of quests, gear farming, and tons of metal soundtrack. In contrast to diablo it doesn't take itself seriously and has 2 different campaigns. There are some mods available. Tons of lore, tons of combat.

Only caveat: It runs pretty unstable on windows 10 64bit (Maybe the GOG version is better, I own the CD from 2009). There are community patches available, but sometimes some custom settings and/or patched dlls are required. Especially on AMD GPUs. In any case f7 (quick save) is your best friend.

It is worth it, though. I recently gave it another playthrough and after I solved the technical difficulties I was surprised on how large, detailed and populated this game was. You can easily sink 100 hours+ in it.

Personally, I think Xenogears is the best with Xenosaga being a close runner-up. I've enjoyed most of the XC games, too, but the fact that they're Nintendo properties has always taken a bit of the edge off what I felt were its predecessors' more mature, more intellectually gratifying ethos. That said, XCX was great, too, and it's probably the most straight forward story told in the Xeno universe. There are rumblings that the Definitive Edition is going to bridge the gap between the different Xeno franchises so I'll be playing it for that reason alone.

I'll throw a big shoutout for Farthest Frontier -

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/1...hest_Frontier/

Been a very fun city builder/sim game so far that's not super hard on the baseline difficulty but seems to have plenty of challenge if you want it. Been getting pretty sucked in lately, unexpectedly so.
