i don't think any single player game can really do that honestly, but the first thing that sprung to mind was final fantasy 15.
it's not a perfect simulacrum but it's got more of that sort of vibe than most single player games do, IMO.
no it is not - skyrim is... not good, on its face.is skyrim that thing? i tried playing that game several times since 2011 but always bounced off. maybe this is the time? avowed seems like woke ruined garbage that i certainly wont buy for the full price of 70 dollars anyway.
whats the best skyrim version available on steam with/without mods?
it's a very obvious classic that has a legacy position as being one of the first of its kind that helped kick-start a genre, but it's a really shit game to actually play, and it has aged horribly.
what about some roguelike(lite?) games? im having fun with balatro lately and would like to try some other ones too.
something different than hades, FTL, slay the spire

Looking for a new 4X space themed game. Something more turned based. Is there a hidden gem out there?
Stellaris, played it, just not into it.
GalCiv IV, im passing. I dont like Stardock and the course they've taken since GalCiv II.
Nexus 5X was interesting and fun. But missing that late game itch.
Really liked Endless Space 1 & 2.
Looking to fill the void until Endless Legend 2 releases in Fall.
what is the subreddit equivalent for this thread?

So I kinda got out of my comfort zone and started playing the resident evil remakes 2/3/4 biohazard and village, dead space remake and the recent cronos new dawn game ( awsome recent similar game ) , and I am kinda hooked on this specific style of ''horror''...anyone know of very similar games that follow this specific style?
By that I mean horror games where you can actualy fight back, with limited resources, backtracking, small puzzles, story, 3rd person or 1st person is fine, so that rules out games like amnesia/outlast, im not looking for hidding simulators
Dead space remake was amazing from the gameplay to the visuals, storytelling...but i did feel a bit to strong with its starting difficulties, i dont want 1 hit and im dead either but felt to rambo-like in this one, cronos game felt way better balanced with its single fixed starting difficulty

The Silent Hill series is definitely the most similar to resident evil though it is more focused on psychological horror and while you can fight back combat isn’t usually the focus. I’d recommend 2 Remake and the recently released Silent Hill f.
Alan Wake 2 is also good though you might want to check out first one first which isn’t really Resident Evil-like like the sequel but still worth a play through.
Oh yeah, I actualy forgot about silent hill 2, think i skiped it because paying 70e for a game that takes like 10-15 hours is a bit of a kekw also i heard it had some nasty issues on release
Played the first alan wake, very good game, i kinda wanna stick to steam games, alreay have to many on EA and ubisoft, dont wanna have epic games now also
Silent hill f a bit similar situation to silent hill 2, its 80e actualy lol, but i also kinda feel like playing as a little school girl wouldnt be very....imersive for me haha
It doesn't fit your description perfectly, but it sounds like you might like Aliens: Dark Descent. A lot of resources management, some backtracking, good story, you can and have to fight back. There are no puzzles per say, but every map is a big puzzle since you have to pick routes smartly to avoid bad fights and choose which doors to open and which to leave or weld. If you liked Aliens (that is, the movie), it does an extremely good job at recreating the climate.
You can get it for peanuts money from reselling sites since it was in Humble Bundle some time ago, so you wouldn't lose much if you don't like it.
Dang, I know you mentioned the RE remakes, but Dino Crisis (circa 1999) was made by the same team behind old RE and has the same features. Been longing for a Dino Crisis remake.

Tormented Souls 2 was just released, should be right up your alley.
If you want a story that pulls you in and requires some personal investment, definitely check out Silent Hill and games inspired by it such as Signalis.
Or, if you want something more retro and akin to the original 90s RE trilogy, check out Alisa, Crow Country or You Will Die Here Tonight.
Lastly, if none of this is what you're looking for, you can always mod your favorite RE game. RE2 remake and RE4 remake have some great difficulty mods and randomizers.
Thanks for the reply, but no rts rly isnt my thing at all, but the RE evil games werent either and i ended up rly enjoying it, may give it a try down the road

Tormented souls has the old style RE camera control, i may be a 90's kid but that kinda style and the retro stuff doesnt do it for me, however i didnt consider modding the remakes thanks for that imput, i think it is just what im going to look in to now, thanks!
in terms of the meshing of game play and story i'm going to call The Last of Us one of the best video games of all time, but i'd also say a lot of the strength there is experiencing the narrative as it unfolds and between it being an older game and having a TV show, if you know how it plays out you're left with an OKish action/survival game that is well polished but not exactly exceptional.
so if you've somehow managed to avoid the show or hearing about the story of the game, highly recommend TLOU.
I think Clock Tower might work but they also may be a little old and hard to find.
Evil Within 1 and 2 is right up your alley, surprised no one mentioned it yet. Dont remember if they have puzzles though.
Not a fan of that visual/camera style, it's not as immersive, i was honestly a big fan of the direction RE 7 whent with the first person camera, and having the option to go 3rd person if you want it is simply superb, more games need to have this option

Yep, they look just right, rly cheap also, thanks!

Old game, released around the same time as og RE4, but Cold Fear may scratch that itch if you can find it. Far from perfect, but still good. And then there is another one with the same kind of gameplay but with teenagers in a high school. I can't remember the name though.
Also, there is Alone in the Dark: New Nightmare and of course the OG RE games that are in GoG
