UO is an MMO released in 1997, so don't expecting amazing graphics, but the gameplay certainly doesn't disappoint. The economy is entirely player-controlled, with players purchasing their own housing and setting up their own NPCs to sell their goods for them. The prices of items vary greatly depending on quality of craftsmanship, materials the armor/weapons were made out of, and also availability. Character progression is also entirely skill-based, not gear-based. There's faction based pvp, guild pvp, dungeon crawls, PKers (player killers, people that roam the world searching for "PvMers" to kill).
If I was to explain everything you could do in UO I'd be here writing for hours, so I'm not going to bother. If you're interested in learning more, I highly recommend giving it a go. I've recently returned after a 4-5 year break, to my old private shard. It was one of the most famous private shards back in the day, and has recently had a wipe (first wipe since it was launched 9 years ago), so now is a perfect time to log on and give it a try.
If you're interesting in learning more, the private shards URL is www dot defianceuo dot com.
If any of you have played UO before, I'd love to hear some of your stories of your history.
I look forward to seeing you ingame! :-)
