ES/Life hybrid is really strong. And there are some pretty good early level life nodes near the shadow start area that can carry you into Merc easily.

I would not use Ghost Reaver on a melee build. Can't regenerate enough ES compared to the massive damage you are taking in melee. But you might figure out a way to make it work where I could not.

I did use GR on a spell caster and bow Shadow and found the combination to be extremely strong.

Just got to ACT II. Jeez, the quests are really confusing. I didn't even know if I was going the right way. Said to find another way into the forest...went into a ship graveyard, into caves, fought bosses, all the while didn't even know I was heading the right way lol

Seen a beta giveaway on this game about a week ago although all the keys were gone. Hope it will be decent when I try it out! Looking for something new to fill gaps up with

Yes there's challenge in the game...on the default run through the dificulties not so much but once you start hitting maps you'll give yourself a good challenge if you have the balls to run them with some of they mods the can roll(more magic monsters, 90% more firedamage, burning ground, chaos damage per sec, and reduced character resistances for instance) ...couple that with a hardcore character.

Also they did mention custom leagues way back when they started doing the closed beta...letting you choose how to play, you could have a hardcore turbo cutthroat pvp league to play on with your friends....but i have not hear anything about that in a long while.

Also 'challenge' is subjective...i've started to see people qq because they die to the first boss hillock...then hailrake, and mervile.
Fuck knows what act three will hold but it is supposed to be harder again.

A completionist would fill the entire tree if possible. And kill himself.

Does any veteran have a good build or tips for a dual-wield?

There seems to be a lot you should follow early game then it changes later due to getting CI...or at least that's what I'm gathering so far...

A lot of things change at endgame. Not really CI related.

In Maps/Endgame, the area and mobs are spawned with buffs that are designed to kill you. And this becomes multiplicative which each tier you are able to advance through-- which is basically infinite.

The game changes at high level because while in the mundane world monsters do not have "95% of damage is Lightning, Players are cursed with Vulnerability, Monsters reflect 60% of player damage, Players suffer 90.2 Chaos Damage a second, Players can not regenerate Life or Mana"

It is completely possible and common to run into Maps with all those conditions at once. Further there is a breaking point where the only way to continue is by advancing through the Map/Endgame tiers. Which again, become exponentially tougher the higher you go.

Mobs also hit like a runaway freight train in Maps. As an example, my Witch has 5k+ life. I can be one-shot by skeleton archer in a Map. Kripparian had like 4k Life and 3k energy shield the other night and one mob hit him so stupidly hard he had to burn all his pots and alt+f4 out of the game to save himself.

The highest level softcore characters are like level 87. Hardcore, level 84.

I don't know how else to explain the Map/Endgame system if people don't get it by now. The Endgame is designed to kill you.

Assuming you want or desire to reach max level one day or compete in the ladder; all melee characters must be SUPER tanky. Doesn't matter if it is CI, Life, Evasion or Armor bases two-hander, sword/shield or dual wielding-- tons of survival is a must late game. Tons and tons.

I think it was supposed to be one of the revenue routes for PoE. That people would rent themself custom servers with their own rules. I do hope it will make it.

If I was you I would download it today and try if the installer will run without account. Saves you waiting for the game to download tomorrow.

you can download and instal the current version just now and just patch tomorrow....the open beta and the launch of act three coincide, theres no charge to start playing tomorrow only if you desperately want a supporters title/kiwi pet today or tomorrow before tha launch would it cost you anything.

Definitely going to be a patch with the inclusion of act three which is said to be the size or bigger than act 1 and 2 combined

It is on closed beta atm , which means you need a beta key to play RIGHT NOW, but tomorrow the game will convert to Open beta and you can play it for free yes.
