I played d3 from time to time...biggest issue is that you can go from level 1 to fairly close to best in slot gear in about a day now, and the leaderboards are pointless. Tried to give the last season a go and was bored after playing for like 4 hours.

I really think Blizz screwed up by making a level cap. The level 100 just being a dream that d2/PoE does is a much better system. End game doesn't start at any particular level, you just go when you think you're ready. There's always something to look forward to with skill points when you level up, and items aren't locked behind some artificial "end game" marker.

Having a level cap is not an issue of D3's design. The issue is reaching the level cap is an intended eventuality for every player. Every player is supposed to reach the level cap by design in Diablo 3. There in is where the design breaks down in an ARPG that is strictly linear and vertical- as every Blizzard game is design to be.

Didn't we know this was coming a month ago? I've known this for a long time. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

No? I just heard the news an hour before posting via stream by way of Reddit.

People were talking about the impact of zero eternals on the crafting perfect weapons process and how long it would take PoE's noble houses to create perfect weapons in 2.0 a long time ago. I can't believe I'm the only person who knew about this already. Maybe GGG just made an off the cuff "maybe we'll remove eternals" comment that nobody took seriously, I don't know.

Torn about this, I have items in standard I already spent loads on that I now won't be able to finish so in standard I think it's a mistake to remove them (at least unless they physically remove all current once). In temp leagues on the other hand I'm all for removing them in their current form at least, I do think they are needed in some form or at least the mechanics of them. Perhaps a service from a master, that way it has no impact on the economy as such (people hording them to dictate prices) yet still provide the ability to safeguard rolls in some way. Perhaps only usable on 4 stat items or less.

On second thought after some sleep, they should remove the mirror instead as that's what causes the issues with being able to craft perfect items long term.

I think it's speculated that the part they like least about eternals is that you can so easily make imprints of a variety of different bases for crafting purposes. People don't just have one mirror worthy rare, they have like 12 different imprints of that same rare. It's kind of game breaking when you can take an item with four t1 bases, imprint it, and then craft several perfect items out of it. Someone suggested that mirrors would make both items mirrored and unable to be crafted further, I kind of think that's a good idea.

Yeah it's the major issue with the eternal, make the imprint have a 24h duration and problem solved. Mirrors as you say would be solved by making 2 copies and delete the original item.

I wonder if they could code that in, seems like it might work. I do wonder if they're training to drain the exalts out of the economy, though. It's a pretty damn rare orb and yet there are people with literally thousands of them.

  11. #6931
Think this would have the opposite effect if that's the aim, people will go back to regarding exalts as the go to "secure" currency. Never know how mirrors will change if they are willing to remove eternals would be the mindset.

    Trying to drain*
Aren't exalts already the secure currency? Yeah, mirrors and eternals exist, but so few people have any.

  13. #6933
No one trades in mirrors seriously.

Exalts are the high end currency denomination. I think a perusal of guys like Hedge and Havoc with literal pages upon stash pages of exalts is indicative of the broken economy system POE fosters. Get lucky, play the market and control the majority of the wealth of a league.

    Free markets are shit.

Haha, I thought it was pretty awesome. Not every day I get to say I know a celebrity!

On a more serious note, the challenges seem easier this time around. The div cards are probably going to be about as bad as the unique challenge usually is, but we'll see how they work when people start trading them. Might actually go for 8/8 this time again. Too bad it's a totem pole decoration again and I am not creative enough to care about hideouts.

I kinda like the totem pole, it's a lasting in game monument of your achievement.

Awakening Hype! Patch notes are already up, spent 15 minutes reading them lol.

Going to do a Summoner for SC Warbands and see if Skeletons are worth now.

Patch notes are awesome. With all the new cold skill/supports I'm going to try a dual cold claw EV/AR/Fort Ranger with Rage, Smoke and Whirl, and a Golem on the side. The change to Ondar's is going to take some adjusting (I always used it on my melee EV chars to eliminate the threat of ranged, non-caster enemies; but I cannot deny that it was OP), but I'm sure I'll be able to compensate.

I just don't know if I want to try Tempest or Warbands first.
