I liked Talisman league the more I played it and the more chances I had of collecting cool stuff. My gripes with Tally in the end was just the UI/interfacing concepts that went along with the league making it cumbersome at times.
Sure but how do we collect them and what dangers do we have to overcome...and what are the potential rewards for doing so.
The concept is great from a long term perspective but as they are removing it from game I'm not happy with it at all. In 3 months I made one rare T4 talisman i-lvl 77+ (required for most T2 mods you would want) and one Eyes of the Greatwolf unique. Any talismans left after this league that isn't comparable with a good ammy will be useless and space wasters until they bring it back at some point. Also the upgrade system is way to complex to use to it's full potential as the possibilities are almost endless when it comes to combining i-lvls and using it optimally would require some next level planning and math skills.
And I played the whole league, and played enough to level to 98,5/88/82/68.
Rare that took 3 months to gather...
Unique...
I agree Perandus teaser makes it seem meh. At a guess I believe there will be side areas or some optional content like that that rewards coins when you finish it. The Perandus friends probably spawn every once in a while and offer you shitty random items with a .01% chance to be a shitty 1 alch unique. I mean, there's no way GGG would let us all go buy shavs from a vendor, but if you don't get items that are actually temtping then most people will end up completely ignoring the league mechanic entirely. I hope I'm wrong, of course.
Perandus League seems a little boring. It's just a teaser, so I'll be expecting some more threats to come along with the extra rewards.
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.
Quote from a dev on reddit so there is more to it than what the teaser shows. Either way we will know more in like 8-12 hours."Pernicious" does not mean "poor". It means "having a harmful effect". So he's saying the items are dangerous, or can be dangerous. There is some intentional vagueness there.
Here's to hoping without getting my hopes up! I actually liked Talisman quite a bit and I think GGG is headed in the right direction with that so we will see.
I would dig it if the new league allowed more deterministic rewards for players. While I enjoyed Tally league, I do agree with the above poster that Tally league could be frustrating in terms of RNG/possible combinations open to players. It only conveyed a small measure of control in the acquisition of top tier ammys.
If the Perandus dealer offers random items for coins that would be cool with me provided the method of getting coins was reliable. In other words, I could farm or stow this third currency somehow without dedicating whole bank pages to stuff I have to collect.
Personally I think that the league features should be such that they make playing the league fun and keep you playing it. Adding yet another item farm isn't exactly that, when we're playing throwaway characters that become completely useless once the league ends. Which is the case if you ever only play leagues.
I mean, with items, and with levels as well, the problem is that once you get them, you're pretty much done and can move on. So, either that's it for that character, or that's it for the game until the next league comes along. If you get to that level or find that item early, then you're basically done with that character early, which isn't really fun. If, however, it takes you almost the entire league to get that item and polish up that spec, then once you get there, the league is over and you never got to enjoy what you had.
Having league features opens up other fun reasons to keep playing though. But, if those features are yet another item farm, well... Doesn't seem that fun.
I don't think Talisman needed to give top tier rewards to be fun. Rigwald was fun imo, just getting rare amulets was fun for the possibility that they were god tier. My main faults with talisman were the fact that you couldn't use repeats, which made getting to tier 4 a pain in the ass, and that 90% of drops where white/blue. I'd be happy going the whole league without a single good amulet if it were just a little easier to farm the boss. If they were going to flood us with trash drops, they needed to make it have a default 20% chance to make a rare amulet if you used only whites/blues, in my opinion, so we'd have a reason to even pick those amulets up.
Yeah this was my main beef with the talismans. There was plenty of T1 supply, even rares, but to get a T4 rare of a decent i-lvl required way to many of them. If we could have funneled our white/blue talismans in to upgrade chances for rares of higher tiers it would have been close to perfect.
My other issue was the weighted average used for the upgrade system, while great in a vacuum where you can push i-levels up by combining them well it just became too complex to use optimally when you had a range of talismans from 68-84 and could push i-levels every tier.
