Like take the wolfboi, when I got to him in cruel, he barely managed to even do one fog phase and it barely tickled even. And some with better builds simply kill him before that mechanic even happens.

You don't need to "know" anything, when boss dies in less than a minute or so.
Yeah I definitely have a power spike, mainly due to me missing the fact that with my explosion build I missed that I could add a 3rd socket to a move so now it fires 25% faster. Did the wolf boss and melted him, his blood spike hit me at the last second and we traded. So I found out if you kill a boss and die at the same time you get 0 loot .

FYI - apparently there's some weird bug/interaction in Sanctum and unequipping you shield can deal significant Honor damage to your character, ending the run.

Also was seeing someone talk up vaaling 3-socket version of skills to hope for a 4th slot (for a 5-link) as a much cheaper way of getting the extra socket when in maps. Apparently vaal can roll +/- gem levels, quality, or sockets. vaal orbs seem fairly rare as well (I've found one so far), but apparently it's far cheaper than trying to trade for the bigger jewelers orb.

I can agree that act 1 normal is a rough experience for new players. I was stuck on the final act 1 boss for a while, I even quit PoE2 that day. Next day I went back to earlier acts and farmed, once I got Fire Wall with Raging Spirit I was able to handle the boss a lot better. So "just get more gear or use other skills" really can be the answer, and anyone can do it - I mean, if you're at the act 1 boss you must be capable of killing earlier trash mobs and bosses.

That's stuff I really dislike about PoE btw.
I'm not sure if this has been even explained properly at any time during this game.
I just expected to get "5 links" or whatever they are called through playing the game.
Just like how I get skill gems while playing the game.

I don't even know how to use the currency exchange you unlock in cruel.
Even after reading the information I still don't understand it.
    I.E. "ctrl + L-clicking something doesn't do anything.
And it looks like a really weird system?

How do I, for example, find out the ratios for Item A and B and then C D E F G H ... X Y Z without going through them one by one.
Why the fuck is "Scroll of Wisdom" there for example. What purpose does a 25g item you can buy from a vendor serve? Seems horribly designed - almost on purpose.
Like... you trade Item A to B because B can be cheaper to buy C with as for example A to D and D to C.
A to C directly however doesn't even work.

I made a sorc just to try it and act 1 again

I basically did nothing but spam spark and face rolled through act 1

    It’s not hard

I've only completed the first quest, but as a monk I certainly hope that this class moves away from ranged abilities, cause these starting skills all feel very range-y. My expectation is to do something similar to a Zealadin: be in the monsters face and attack fast
This is my one complaint as a monk (lvl 43)

Using a ranged abilities feels too necessary to use. Storm wave is just so much faster and easier to use than melee

The melee stuff does less dps and is harder to use. ymmv, but as a lighting monk that certainly feels the case

Melee does not feel like it’s currently in a good spot in this game. Even watching videos of warriors they’re all spamming ranged abilities.

I mean...you sorta do. The jewelers orbs you need for it are just very rare, this is a trick to more quickly/cheaply get a 5 link. PoE has tons of similar gambling/tricks.

That sets the currency type (from your inventory) that you "have" and want to trade. You can use the dropdown menus from the + icon to select from the full list of currencies and other stuff (fragments, league mechanic stuff, runes, soul cores etc.) as well to choose that way. I have no experience with this from Settlers as I played SSF (don't even think you can open the window in SSF? I never tried, at least), but it's basically just an AH where you choose what currency you want and what you have to trade for it and try to find offers, or place your own and hope others will fulfill it.

You don't. You have to check ratios because the ratios are based on player listings. It's a bit more tedious if you want to search for listings for every currency type you have for now, but it'll settle over time as an economy really starts forming and currency values start getting standardized - it's the wild west right now.

CI Cold Sorc is so good. I feel unstoppable.

I can't see a damn thing because spell effects are going off nonstop. Just how I like it.

Not that I expect to happen anything soon in that regard, but did GGG say when they'll reset stuff back to zero?
Will there be resets while in EA?

IIRC no wipes at all. When EA ends (IIRC they're adding new classes and stuff during EA) they'll take EA characters and move them to a separate version of standard to preserve them there, the characters won't be deleted.

Oh, so when new classes release, aside from the weapons which are not out yet, I guess I can give armor/rings/amu etc. to a new class/character?
    And use the currency too?
Hmmmm, won't that mess with the actual testing of these classes a bit?
Sounds like it's gonna skip a few steps here and there and will have weird powercurves. I wonder if the look at SSF-players and how they do, to adjust from there or something.

Anything you have now should be usable, yes. Armor, currency etc.

Unless they've changed their approach, they don't make balance decisions around SSF.

Got to Count Geonor on my monk and it was a breeze. Nothing fancy regarding skills, base damage skill is Ice Strike + Falling Thunder when I generate charges with Killing Palm, Glacial Cascade to snipe from range when I have to, Frozen Locus to help with freezes (this one feels very effective with some Support gems and my passives). Vaulting Impact to engage and disengage from groups of mobs.

But the true winner is I think my 71% evasion on level 15 Helps a lot too to regenerate shield when I need to disengage.

Also, this is a very very fun fight. Some things still kill me and I think can't be evaded (?) - like his big AoE skills and the rain thing he does in wolf phase - but nothing felt unfair or too difficult.

I...am an idiot. I have 3 characters with Minions, and I *just now* realized that there are actual Command abilities that you can assign to your buttons. I have just been using the tilde [`] since that's what it told me to use when I get my 1st minion. /super epic facepalm LOL

Been a while since a boss fight has had my heart pounding as much as wolfboi did.

I'd started off as merc but was not liking it at all, took a step back for a few days then returned and rolled a monk, enjoying the game more now.

so far game is pretty boring, campaign is easy, just slow, no real exciting moments, loot is pretty bland and rare. would rate current experience well below d4 and LE, will see how it plays out though

This game needs movement skills so fucking bad. That one change would make the monotony so much more bearable
