They got me sweating over this event just by that announcement and I am glad the reaction from the community is similar.

Imagine having to run regular maps or mechanics you hate/aren't built for just to pay 100 div for a Deli or Harbinger idol.

    What in the fuck.
Looking at PoE2 and Devtalks it seems GGG really dont like determinism at all. If this is they way forward i dont know if i will stick around. I agree OG Harvest was too strong, but if they want to stretch gametime by adding even more RNG i am not enthusiastic to say the least.
If the crafting of PoE2 is anything to go by, we are in for a bad awakening.

I know we've spent a fair bit of time testing out PoE2 designs and ideas over the past year but largely they felt good enough that folks didn't mind.

I'm sure the relics are liable to be fairly cracked, but it just feels like such a weird decision to do away with a popular deterministic system and replace it with total RNG. It probably won't change, but I hope this reaction is informative for GGG.

It seems they hate it, yeah.

I don't think 'stretching game time' is their intention. When RNG is brought up the devs often remark they find the aspect of the game(s) that are unpredictable to be fun. They specifically label their most RNG-based systems as "exciting", "unpredictable", "variety", etc.

It seems, and I think their GDC talks point to this strongly, that a central part of GGG's design philosophy is that fun is derived from the player adapting to whatever the pull of a lever results in for the player. So to speak.

If the crafting of PoE2 is anything to go by, we are in for a bad awakening.
Well, we should all keep in mind two things; this event is only a month-long void league and GGG said many of these ideas are 'wacky'/'cutting room floor' concepts that didn't cut it for actual implementation.

So we, myself included, ought to keep in mind this event is not a new league.

The monkey paw has to run out of fingers eventually.

Its just a little baffling to me how they just cant get an easy win with the community. Like, they have no one actually playing the game who can tell them whats a terrible idea. I am all for wacky ideas, but please lets keep the best systems in the game and not bastardize them.

If it was up to me, id have the new ascendancies, have these relics that are for Old/Unused league mechanics and call it legacy league 2.0.
This way they could have another 3-4 months to work on PoE2 and 3.26.

Ideas are a dime a dozen, theres plenty to shoehorn a quick league together. I dont expect a Settlers-like expansion every time.

The easiest and most logical extension of the idols was to simply have them replace scarabs. Scarbs suck anyway and I will die on the hill Sextants were better.

How you like the PoE2 version of sextants in form of Towers? Its *hilarious* to me that sextants were removed bc they were too tedious to manage, and then they come up with towers

I mean the community is pretty good with the memes though. POE Reddit has to be up there with WallStreetBets, Prequelmemes and DetroitLions reddits in the quality of our memes.

I almost came to post that because it feels so fuckin real, lol.

At least we know GGG prefers feedback like this or bingo cards vs. someone writing out a 5K word doctoral dissertation, lol.

    Seems accurate lol

The smuggler's stash mod made me howl with laughter during a zoom meeting.

    The feeling is too real.

I'm glad GGG laid out how they see the idols and more behind their operation.

That was a scary 24 hours. Whew!

Wand Ranger and Surfer Bro look fuckng broken as all hell. Damn!

I thought Spider Shadow was the play, but Surfer Bro tech is very appealing.

  11. #16891
Well the latest FAQ does alleviate some of my worries. Wand Ranger looks pretty dope honestly!

  12. #16892
Herald Witch, lmao! You wilding, GGG.

Yo this shit is getting out of hand.

Current musing: Blade Blast of Dagger Detonation Polytheist. Just get a tri-ele dagger and you've got a pretty huge amount of base damage to work with on a targetable nova. Comes with 3 to all min charges making going into crit a bit easier, and you can either get the blind/crit nodes to lean into that harder and for nice phys defense layer or get reflect/hex immunity and a free point for whatever (prob immune the ground effects).

Power Siphon Miner Whisperer looks like it could be very, very strong without needing to change the existing build much, if at all (may not even need pierce, just use the fork node). Lightning Strike also looking good too.

I feel like there's gotta be something cool with Herald...like I want to say going all-in on HoPurity with 6 minions, using Ritual spectres for some auras, could be cool but eh.

And Paladin...General's Cry Ice Crash? Infinite warcry power, nice support for elemental damage bonuses, and either a juiced aura or consecrated ground.

I'm tired and just thinking of dumb things.

I think this will be exciting, but i already predict forums overflowing with negativity and crying of how unbalanced these are, when the event launches.
Im getting tired of it before it even happens xD

Gonna take a lot to pull me away for Fishing Rods though. Surfer Bro is amazing.

I will never use a link skill again. There is no allure stronger enough. No matter how you buff link skills, GGG.

Annihilating Light or Rebuke of Vaal + Tinctures. Herald Witch can be a more powerful version of last year's Ranger Warden Summer blaster.

Guys...I have never played a warcry/general's cry build but I cannot stop thinking about this build.

45% increased elemental damage taken by enemies (45% MORE, baby)
Tri-elemental damage auras to buff weapon/minion damage more.
20% less damage dealt by enemies
Infinite Warcry Power for Gen and maybe...Rallying/Inferal and/or Enduring Cry?

Still unsure whether a level 30 aura or consecrated ground is better, but I feel like you can easily run determination/grace, get plenty of spell suppress, and take the 15% life recovered with each warcry mastery. Can use Ice Crash or something like Volcanic Fissure of Snaking? I dunno, I gotta look into this more.

Yeah, I might have to revisit an old D2 Barb I made way back the day, Tantrum. He was all about warcries. Sadly, I don't think PoE has a Warcry that deals damage. (I also had Leaping Larry, sadly no ARPG has been able to properly reproduce the hilarity of that character; maxed out Leap was just stupid fun)

Most of these are intriguing, to say the least, and seem to allow for some really bizarre and interesting characters. Additionally, the pathing on the trees are just as odd. Some have loops, then you've got the Herald which the 1st half of the tree is mandatory. This may be the most creative I've seen GGG in quite a long time.

    I did notice this, however:
Is this content being used as a testing grounds for future expansions or Path of Exile 2?
Not at all, as mentioned this was a throw-away development idea from the past, we have no current plans to use it for anything outside of being a future private league modifier.
    (emphasis mine)

Does this mean they're finally looking into making Private Leagues actually fun and interesting?

Corrupting cry, though I don't think that's been decent for ages and it's a DoT vs. a big hit.

Hmm, a 2 sec Corrupted Blood DoT. I might be able to work with that. LOL

The MS paint builds are comin out and this is what I live for. This is like, the most exciting time. People just theorycrafting the most cracked ideas that don't work but are hilarious and plausible enough.

Investigating General's Cry, it appears that the mobs are functional clones of you making Tec Slam of Cataclysm very strong if you can get 7+ endurance charges, since they inherit them and you never lose them. 140% more damage, 70% more AoE, 70% fissure chance which should be chunky and more than make up for the lower base scaling while giving nice screen coverage. Seems achievable with +3 from the tree and trying to nab one from a corrupt or something. No clue how I'm gonna level, but I figure I can pick some early fire damage skill and roll with that until I get the build online.

Also, latest set are out -

    Ranger - Wildspeaker: https://web.poecdn.com/public/news/2...ildspeaker.png

    Shadow - Blind Prophet: https://web.poecdn.com/public/news/2...indProphet.png

    Duelist - Aristocrat: https://web.poecdn.com/public/news/2...Aristocrat.png

    Templar - Puppeteer: https://web.poecdn.com/public/news/2.../Puppeteer.png

Also, update to a few existing nodes:

The former fixes the node with Asenath's Gentle Touch which bricked it. And nice to see Spider get the same reservation buff the other aspects have.
