All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.
I mean, based off the 4chin leak the whole "pulling everyone off to work on something else" isn't remotely new behavior and has been going on for a while now. It's bee nothing but hopium.
Anyways, looking around and seeing that Smite Paladin is as viable as I thought/hoped. Might end up making one of those since I really wanted to do something with Paladin.
They did not "abandon" POE1. There was never any stated intention that POE1 was not going to receive continual development. Only the next POE1 league was being delayed for POE2 development.
Entirely personal, of course. And something the developers of POE1 and POE2 have said is not their intent at all. They do mean for players to become stronger incrementally in POE2. You are meant to zoom in POE2. The degree and balancing of such is naturally currently being fine-tuned during the beta period of the game. That, and I'd consider builds getting to zoom levels at end-game a fuck up because I hate that design in ARPGs and was hoping POE2 would nix that.
Really misleading wording here.

I am pretty sure GGG was not surprised no work was done on POE1 considering they are the ones punching in to work. Players were surprised that was such- but that's our problem.

? Explain. Smite sucks.
45% increased elemental damage taken by enemies (just put general's cry on autoexert and take a rage wheel, perma-taunts enemies and should keep you rage capped without even needing rage on hit)
Tri-ele weapon with triple elemental damage auras, plus the smite aura damage. You can roll determination/grace with something like perseverance to scale damage/defenses with your auras, plus likely toss in a herald of your choice.
Can still double hit bosses a la lightning strike.
Take either 40% utility flask effect (significant defense and/or offense depending on your flask setup) or consecrated ground just for some general passive regen. If you want to get really silly you could take the Absolution node to get 40% increased aura effect (which includes the smite damage aura, not sure if it includes the triple-ele auras but I don't think so) and drag around an animated guardian with some more passive buffs for you.
Edit:
Another dumb idea - Architect of Chaos Vaal Absolution. Looks like you can get the soul gain prevention low enough and duration high enough that you may be able to theoretically keep the big boi up at all times, for a fourth absolution minion with bonus spells that deals 200% more damage.
+3 to vaal gems is nice since absolution scales well with gem levels. crit chance is whatever but 50% reduced soul gain prevention is going to be great. fever for corruption fixes duration problems while keeping soul cost very affordable.
and probably impure blood and just reserve all your mana/go hard into life regen so you don't need to worry about pathing over to eldritch battery.

Hmm. I didn't look beyond the link skills on Paladin, honestly. I just felt it was a waste of time when half the sub-class was link skill bullshit. This is probably better with Tinctures.

First POE2 races announced. Demigods full set on the horizon.

more excited about this league than poe2 lmao
"It's 2013 and I still view the internet on a 560x192 resolution monitor!"
I'm sure if the announce 0.2 and Huntress is included that'll pull me back to at least check out the class/spears. But otherwise yeah, I'm way more jazzed for this league/event/whatever. Gonna play so many weird builds and skills I've never really tried/that otherwise might not work.

Im just going to go collect that armor set you get fully once you reach 80lvl. Getting that far shouldn't take too long. I'm hoping to complete this with minion build using puppeteer. That would be a zombie build.
Ancestral Commander should go core and replace Berserker.

Whisperer isn't all that.

GGG weirdly picking today to start PoE2 0.2 teasers with a pair of uniques.
Bringer of Rain seems about like what the PoE1 version is, maybe a bit better offensively. Still a big opportunity cost for it, though, losing body armour hurts.
Hammer of Faith is...man I hope there are some mace skill changes coming because another unique mace with -%attack speed on it is just roflmao. Seems like they're starting to roll out updated base types as well as giant mauls and decorated helms don't exist currently, I believe.
im having a real rough time getting a vaal cold snap
im leveling via arma brand and it's just... blah
edit: just as I finished whining, vaal cold snap from third vaal side area i found in act 5
the angel of chris wilson smiled on me

Yeah. These idols are great. Some of them are meh, but when they hit it's big.
A couple.of the early nodes feel good in campaign. But once you're actually playing the end game, the sub lacks the foundation to really build out. Instead, you are building for it.
I can see why a lot of this design was scrapped. There are some really cool options to these alternate subs but they also can be too narrow to support a width of play.
Not Ancestral Commander and Scavenger though. They can go core.

I really like the idol system. This is more expansive, scalable and makes item an interesting interaction point.
No sustain issues. I just played for an hour and half. Smooth as silk.
This is a lot of fun.
I...think Infernal Blow of Immolation might not suck? Messing around using it for single target while mapping while my gen cry dudes use tec slam of cataclysm (lucked out and got that from labs), and wasn't super in love with volcanic fissure of snaking as a skill to use myself. It's a bit clunky without +1 strikes or anything, but with the ancestral commander node that gives you +1 strikes and 50% further range on the +1 it should be fairly easy to keep stacks up. Which is solid because that's 377% scaling, with a functional 90% more per attack when you pop the debuff on yourself. Definitely sucks for clear, but the pops are pretty noticeable so far.
Mostly playing like SSF still but the Infernal Blow gem was 1c so I couldn't pass it up to test with.
Not sure how I feel about idols yet. I miss my normal leaguestart of harvest/expedition to help get me some initial gear, but it seems to be going ok.
3.25 Settlers was the most fun I have ever had playing an ARPG. This event league is the most fun I have had playing an ARPG since OG Settlers.
This is fantastic!!
I love the new idols, the remix of ascendency has breathed fresh air into the game in a way POE hasn't had since the original atlas passive tree change.
Got a PS Whisperer going with Malchai's Loop. This might be the most powerful build I have ever made. And that includes the busted Spork Zombie Witch with OG Dream Frags from closed beta or the LS Duelist I won a Demigod with.
I am running around t17s deleting the screen with like 8 mechanics going at once. Mageblood cooking!
Just... fuck, GGG. Here is another $100 from me. You got me again.

I forgot how nice trade is sometimes.
Went to buy a meh 6l base for 20c to get going in maps a bit better, get whispered for the 5L shav's I threw some currency at and sell it for 1d afterwards. I should look around for a weapon, now.
