I use Divine Purpose on Garrosh because it doesn't really matter and apart from the slightly higher on demand burst that SW provides the end number (on garrosh) isn't significantly higher or lower than SW. Because I run with DP I once in a blue moon end up with absolute perfect RNG and beat warlocks, hunters and warriors on P1 adds damage done + top on 1st room phase adds and 1st on Mind Controll. That makes my dps go fucking mental and I'm usually just beaten by the tanks, what does that prove? Absofuckinglutely nothing. I played with the resources I got, the next try I almost guaranteed won't see the same result- does that make me worse? No, I still played with what I got.
It's not a problem with padding that I personally have, it's pointless and that's about it. The problem I have is people trying to put some sort of value to their "proraiders" rank or whatever when it's got 0 value.
Take the current Rank 1 dps ret on Immersius, put me or any half decent ret up in the same situation (only one allowed to aoe adds) and we'd get simmilar results where the difference is just going to be the DP/4set procs.
But clearly getting more procs/crits makes you a better player.

No. Skill increases the chance to crit / to proc DP&4p! Pure awesomeness does also help.

Ding ding ding. Its all about the strat and procs really. Ret doesn't have that high of a skill cap, I think we can all agree there are plenty of classes that have a higher skill cap. Chances are if you're a ret - and have killed 14/14h bosses - you're at, or very close to the skill cap. Pro raiders / wow-heroes have their merits but they wont show how good/bad you are. They will lead you to the logs - and logs tell the real story of how the fight went.

    Rank 1 on proraiders inc!
But be careful. On these levels your awesomeness can overload, which leads to disconnects!

I need some help on what I'm missing from J's formula:

    (623+0.546*SP+0.328*AP)*Inq*SoL*Magic Vuln

I can't get this to come out right for the life of me. I am incorporating AP and SP raid buffs in AP and SP values.

    +4% physical damage? J isn't physical, but it's a melee attack, so it's worth a try.

I'm still way off. Landing at around 40k on the spreadsheet and showing 65-80k for unbuffed (no pot, no goak, no aw, no double jeop) J's in logs. And for AP I am calculating food, flask, and stat buffs into str as well.

I do ~61k J hits on lvl 90 training dummys without procs and with Inq up.
    AP: 59422
    SP: 29711
Without +4% physical damage, but with +5% magic damage:
    (623+0.546*29711+0.328*59422)*1.3*1.3*1.05 = 64477.6
    Without both:
    (623+0.546*29711+0.328*59422)*1.3*1.3 = 61407.2
That works quite well for me. Looks like J doesn't profit from Magic Vuln.
Your mistake has to be in your calculation of the gear, I guess.

My bad, I'm an idiot. Had a problem in my spreadsheet where for some reason my AP for J got set to AP's wpn dmg value. Oops. But thanks though, looking at your AP made me find my mistake.

As over 300 pages are a lot to read I ask away. Did some bis items changed due to the 2 extra upgrades per item?

I believe anaxie said the norushen bracers are BiS now, due to extra hit from more upgrades.

I use http://www.wowhead.com/item=105434 (Protector shoulders) and a can get to 2549 or 2550 hit with the Malkorok neck with all upgrades. Anaxie probably calculated this for the set with Garrosh pants (which is the "real" BIS set).

If you're master race (spacegoats aka female draenei) Norushen bracers have been bis since the beginning :P

Psh, dwarves are so much better than draenei.

For reasons too abstract and enigmatic to explain right now.

Why would it NOT factor in Garrosh pants

Not close enough though HWF jugg neck + unforged hands + Cloak reforged = 7.5 hit once 4/4d

    - - - Updated - - -

considing mthe huge rating numbers and inflation it's almost TOO perfect.

Expertise is a whole nother adventure I'll have to explore next week to not waste 80+

Also i hate not doing speed kills. Watched my rank one jugg slowly tick down in DPS since it still runs close to 4 minutes Vs 3 :S

Our gm still forces us to cheese the siege phase so I don't get pretty numbers there at all =[
