I think SNES games new were $20-$30 at the time, but PS2 games were $40 consistently, unless there was something special that came with it. Now PS1 games were especially well priced at $30-$40, considering that N64 games were $40 - $60 when they were new, which turned me away from N64 at the time, that and the cartridge format holding it back.

I dunno, I know NES games were pretty expensive. I didn't get a SNES when it was new.

N64 games were pretty much all 40 bucks I think. Stuff that came with extra crap like Star Fox 64 with the rumble pack. I don't agree that the cartridge format was holding it back considering the PS1 was a 32 bit console and released a lot earlier than the N64.

Well look at some of the RPGs of the PS1 era. A lot of them were multiple discs. That would have been close to impossible in a cartridge format.

As for N64 games price. I went to Electronic Boutique (before it became EB Games and then bought by Gamestop) a lot when I was trading in games and buying them a lot N64 games had a tendency to cost more. Mario 64 was of course $40, but many others which were less known were $10 higher for little reason.

Yeah it would have been impossible in cartridge format. I'm not going to argue what media format was better because we all know how that played out.

The games were more expensive because the N64 was newer.
