Huh. All information I've said myself.
"Watch tangents" - You don't want lines running into each other at shallow angles. It can look like an oversized single line, and make you lose depth perception.
"Open up negative spaces" - Don't leave small holes to the background or a low layer. It can confuse the viewer to where the color comes from. Leave it connected to the open view of the background.
"Don't touch if you don't have to" - Exactly that. Things that are supposed to be separated by foreground/background should either be apart or have a lot of overlap, or they look like they're actually bumped into each other.
"Omit back wing to help declutter" - That's why my second wings were missing in the first place, but as I started making postures where the character leans over, I forgot to add them in.
