Don't go with AMD. I'm not an Intel fangirl, I'm a 'best bang for my buck' fangirl. As it stands AMD just can't compete with Intel, even at the lower ends

AMD doesn't perform really at all right now. I'd bite the bullet and save up for an i5 2500 (k if you plan to OC). That thing will last you a while for video games.

For GPUs, last I heard the 660 cards were coming out soon or something. Prices may go down for mid-low end cards. If you need to compare, this tool is pretty cool.

IvyBridge just came out and the pricing is roughly comparable. The new i5 3570K is comparable to the i7-2600k in terms of performance, although the 2600k is still slightly better, and is about $230.

I would go i5 3570k > i5 2500k
