I have only played one game, and I already know what the mobs do, what the champions do (Which isn't saying much tbh, because there are only freakin' 5 free champions to play atm, so it's the same teams against each other), what to do and not to do in the jungle and found a build order.
We did lose the fight, but I found out that taking the monkey guy and just going full physical damage is enough to blow anyone up. And my enemy team did exactly the same. I think that boiling it down to a FP-MOBA will increase its non-competitive play and the fun value (Yes, I made that up just now and I am proud of it), but seriously decrease required skill. It's like Team Fortress: You can be a bloody good sniper, but sometimes you are just running out of a door and there's a heavy smiling to your right. I think that, in this game, you can be as tactical as you want, but when it all comes down to it it's a matter of who is having most +DMG, and through that wins. This comes from a lot of things, like all the abilities being AoE (For many of the heroes), and while you can get an RTS overview and manage 2-3 things at a time in a moba or any RTS game, here you can basicly do two things: Run into the mist and hit stuff or run away screaming.
There is definitely skill involved, but not nearly as much as for an example League or SC2. But I think that's mostly because it is new, and all the gameplay ain't online yet. I would love to see more power ups, more focus on the jungle and a bigger boost (in damage, hp and reward) to the NPC's. It didn't take me more than 15min before I started to just clear the jungle and tank minion waves.
