How big is the difference in RAM size?

I was planning on getting 2x 4gb sticks but I see that 12 and even 16 gb isnt that much more. Is there a huge difference in size?

    if he started with 4GB wouldnt 12GB be a 300% upgrade and 16GB be a 400% upgrade

wow talk about derailing the thread looking at math and physical size.

It is unlikely you will ever need more than 8gb in a gaming PC.
whilst it is nice to say "I have 12gb" or "I have 16gb" of ram. it is in almost all case's wasted if your only doing gaming and a bit of light video editing.
if you where doing some pretty serious video editing, or graphics work then yes more ram would be better for you. However if this was the case you would probably be speaking to someone in regards to getting a custom PC built for that reason and not asking on a gaming site

Derailing the thread, What was the OP question again?

If its only 10% price difference then who cares if its not used. If its like 2x the cost then yea its pointless as it will sit empty but if tiny price difference then go for it.
