Just how long does it take to download the trial to TOR? T_T
I thought it was going to be like most other games I've played where it allows you to play early on in the game while it downloads the rest as you play.
But it downloads everything... Which im fine with, but I have no clue just how much more it has to go because it displays individual assets instead of the entire download >:\
The first part was like 1.8GB and I was like, "Oh well that isn't too bad."
About a hour later and i'm ready to start the trial version, and suddenly it rolls over to 11.38GB O_O
The next day it finishes the last few bits, then suddenly changes again to English Assets 1: 4GB's remaining!....
My internet isn't very good, but out of 3mbps the client only uses the common 300kbps download speed, so it takes forever.

I believe you end up downloading the full client despite being restricted to the first two starter areas. IIRC, the original size of the client at launch was at least 20GB

As for the English Assets part, that does take forever. That is the voice acting that is being downloaded. Of which, there is lot.

Are you new to mmos?

That's a pretty standard size.

I remember AoC being slightly larger.

Tera is about that size.

WoW is larger by a fair amount last I checked.

20gigs is like... not that big a deal.

I've actually bought all my games in the disc form from Amazon.
This one is the first time I've downloaded a MMO game from the internet.
Most games I've downloaded were from Steam and were usually at most 5-8GB.

lols 20gb takes like 3 hours to download.I got only 13 mb connection and it took only 4 hours to download swtor.

I dunno, I had just un-installed about a week before the free week. Decided to log in for the free week and had to re-download. I remotely logged in to my home PC about 4 hours before I would get home from work and started the download. Well, something crashed my system in that time, so not sure how far it got but I started it again when I got home. 2-3 hours later, not done. 2 more hours, still not done. Stopped the download so I could do something else and started it before going to bed. It was done in the morning, but definitely longer than 2-3 hours. Longer than 4-6 even. My internet is not that bad either, I regularly get very fast download speeds from other sites, the installer kept going between 50-300kBs though, occasionally going up to 1000, but that was rare and it didn't stay there long. I have no limits on how much I can download, and no throttling after certain points either. I quite regularly download at speeds greater than 1000-2000 with no problems. Either a lot of people were downloading at the time and BWs Bandwidth was choked up or could not handle the concurrent connections or something. I bet the same happened to the OP.
