This is true, the deoxygenised blood simply looks blue due to the color of the veins they travel through. Originally Posted by holz

@pOO - the blood looks blue through your arms because of the way light reflects, surely if half the blood in your body is oxygenised and the other half isn't, then half your veins would be red, the other half blue
@mig - it is an awesome word, and I like how a few people other than me used it too.

PS: The term "blue blood" was used for nobility because their skin was generally more plae than the skin of a normal worker or something. That way their "blue" veins could be seen better.
