Question about grouping up with friends and

I have a question. I don't have any friends who's into playing GW2 so I wasn't able to test this out during the beta events.
My server was pretty full, sending me to an overflow server many times through out the day (not complaining though).
If a friend and I were in the same server, but sent to different overflows for whatever reason, is there a way my friend and I can port to each other to we can party up and play together? And if we were already in a party, we would be sent to the same overflow, right?

yes you can port to the overflow with your friend if hes in a party.

You right click on their portrait and click 'Join in' and it sends you to their overflow server. It should normally send you both to the same overflow, but sometimes that just doesn't happen, so you can force it to happen by clicking join in.
