Most advanced in technology? Undoubtedly the United States. However, I'd say North Europe is a nicer place to live for the common man, so I'm inclined to say it's a toss-up. Military technology definitely goes to the US. Our navy and air force are years ahead in technology of other countries, besides our closest allies.

It depends what area of technology you're considering.

As a whole, I would suspect that the United States is still on the cutting edge of most things. You can point to instances here and there where they lack, but on the whole I believe they take the edge.

Sweden is the leader in health care and quality of life technologies.

Japan is leading in internet and computer technologies.

Germany is the leader in beer technology

Quality of life and overall happiness ≠ advanced in technology. Are you kidding? The past 20 years has seen TONS of advancements that come from the USA. Need I list them? We aren't behind, we are still cutting-edged and way beyond other countries in many areas.
