I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but basketball is big in Texas.

    American Football
    Basketball/Baseball
    Soccer

I'm from Canada as well but I would list it as such:

    1) Hockey
    2) American Football (CFL and NFL ftw)
    3) Hockey
    4) Hockey
    5) Hockey
    6) Basketball

    Norway

1: Football (Soccer for those Americans out there)
    2: Anything skiing related
    3: Handball
    4: Anything skiing related
    ...
    10: Anything skiing related
    ...

You can pretty much continue that until you've covered most of the skiing-type of sports. So yeah, skiing is a big part of the Norwegian heritage and therefore the most "loved" sport.

I'm looking for maybe the top 6 sports. If you can't list all 6 it's fine, just do as many as you can think of.

Please Please Please post your country as well. It's pointless without this information. Also, this thread isn't meant to cause arguments. I'm just looking for a general sense. I'll maybe post some results after a week or two. I also don't want to hear about Soccer is Football, Football is Soccer bullshit. Everyone knows what you mean and we get it. Let's move on.

    For me:

    Canada

    1. Hockey
    2. American Football
    3. Basketball
    4. Golf
    5. Baseball
    6. Football (Soccer)
What about the CFL? That's really popular here. I'd say hockey and Canadian Football. Are you talking about what's the most popular sports that are played in a Country or just in general?

  11. #31
    Winter
    Aussie Rules (southern states)
    Rugby League (northern states)

    Summer
    Cricket (everyone)

    About it really.

There is a reason searching for 'state of origin' takes you to rugby league QLD V NSW, the most vicious hard fought out series in the world

CFL uses American Football rules (for the most part). I used the term as a distinction from the world use of the word "football".

    Viewing: United States

    1. American Football
    2. Basketball
    3. Baseball
    4. Golf
    5. Nascar if you consider it a sport

    Playing: United States

    1. Golf. Why? Because it encompasses all age groups
    2. Baseball (men), and Softball (women). It's the most popular youth sport.
    3. Soccer aka Euro Football. 2nd most popular youth sport.
    4. American Football (men), and Volleyball (women). These become more popular in middle school, and beyond, which why they rank lower, the two above it, parents sign their kids up when they're really young, like 5 to 6.
    5. Basketball

    Israel:

    1. Football.
    2. Basketball.

These are the only two really popular ones. Maybe volleyball as well.

The rest are any sport for which we have a representative athlete in the Olympics, so right now those would be Tennis, Sailing and Gymnastics.

France, based on the number of licenced players:
    1. football
    2. tennis
    3. judo/ju-jitsu
    4. basketball
    5. handball
    6. rugby

Now for TV/live audience, things are a bit different, as cycling gets a lot of interest for instance.

This is based off of a website, I would say it is pretty accurate. I do wish Lacrosse was more popular here though, it is my favorite sport
