    Dynamic Event Scaling

    Note: This post is not about Group Events.

    As we all know, dynamic events are suppose to scale in difficulty depending on the amount of people there and how much they participate in the event. However, I have not been able to notice this scaling. I don't know if this is just a bug in the BWE/Stress Tests, but I kind of hope they are. On the rare occasions that I encounter an event with no one around, I find that I really have to play serious to not die (I am referring to level 20 events mind you), especially if there are multiple ranged mobs that I can't just kite. For me at least, I find this to make leveling more interesting. Leveling and completing an event actually means something because I had to struggle to do so. Now my problem is that when I do an event with multiple people, maybe even just 3-4 people, the events are pretty much push overs. I would imagine Dynamic Events would be even more difficult to complete without having entered a downed state at least once with more people, seeing how you can be picked back up.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    most events are set to 5 normal crappy players at the lowest but will scale up if more people are in the zone. most of the time i just saw this as a lot more health but by 20 or so in an event it is zerg any way.

    Yeah there were some events really hard to finish with 2 or 3 people, but if it failed it led to a different 2nd event that was easyer etc. etc.

    I did see upscaling, a escort with just 2/3 mobs comming and at one point there was a zerg of 20+ mobs attacking us.

    In BWE3 I leveled a different character than I did in BWE1 and I noticed some of the events were a lot easier because in BWE1 there were so many people running from DE to DE, which increased it's difficulty. So yeah, the scaling is definitely there.

    In-game during the 9th stress test Mike Fergurson (which was standing in the Heart of mists, pvp lobby) answered the following question (Wish I had taken a ss).

    The question was about difficulty, I do not remember exactly how it was worded but the answer was "Bwe3 overall was easy, we changed some levels and found that most of stuff was too easy, we already took measures to make it a little harder".

    Not exactly copy and paste but that's what he said. XD.

    A long while ago, it was said that event scaling caps at 10 players. This has probably changed since then, the cap could be higher now. I do notice scaling, even though it is very well hidden and is hard to notice when it actually scales, events do become easier with more people but not to a zergable degree, not until you're throwing like 20 players at the event which is probably closer to the scaling cap now.

    There's a DE chain in the Charr starting zone where the "ultimate success" stage is you taking over an ogre camp. The event at this stage is the ogres trying to take it back.

    The more people who show up to defend the camp, the more ogres arrive to try to take it. It definitely scales. I'm not sure what the scaling triggers are or how much it scales, but there definitely was a difference.
