It's very Charles Dickens-ish but I'd rather have a modest income and real friends/family then be ultra wealthy and surrounded by people who just want to mooch. If I was worth $40 billion, the first question I would ask myself when meeting someone new is "what do they want from me and how much will it cost?"

Don't you ask it anyway? No matter your wealth, you're always surrounded by people who want something from you. Ultimately that is why we associate with people - for the value they provide to us.

No one is interested in knowing me for my money, trust me. That's an awfully materialistic opinion, I don't want anything other than friendship from my friends. If I was worth billions of dollars, I would probably assume everyone was looking for money or to sell me an investment or something.

Yes they have earned these millions if not billions of dollars through hard work. If anyone know's if you work hard everyday on a paycheck. You will become a millionaire and in no way shape was it made exploiting the use of actual workers and stuf they're greedy pockets. I say we should take their water slide. We should raise taxes on their kids parents.

I'm sure it's been said, but the teeth gnashing is just haters hating.

Guh, they spend more on one night's food/drink/entertainment than I spend in 10 years for the same.

Well, the kids haven't really done any good or bad, they're just taking a free ride on their parents fortune.

    Their parents earned the money.

These rich, spoiled kids squander their money.

Well they won't be rich for long spending like that. A few generations down the line it will all run out. Heck if one of them decides they want to invest in some cool new project they could lose it all in a matter of years. What is that item that was 50k?

Ugh, i really dislike when someone uses the word "earn" on the very rich. Even based purely on effort i very much doubt that they work any harder than some specialists in their own fields. Tbh, theres no such thing as someone earning something in capitalism anyway. Their parents acquired the money.

If you think repeatedly referring to Obama as a "Kenyan" makes people take your posts more seriously, I can assure you it has quite the opposite effect.

Rich people spending lots of money is a good thing.

It's the people making billions and stashing 99.9% who should be target of the angst.

    $10 for a coke? WTH?

I can understand having the money and not caring. I've done that many times myself. But seriously, $10 for a single bottle of coke is ridiculous.

As long as they are not screwing other people out of it for themselves and actually sharing it with friends, families and such I don't care. As long as they're not greedy, and I can say that about anyone.

Ya know, if I had billions of dollars, I'd probably spend like that, at least for the first few days, just because I could.

But I'd sober up and control myself after that, wouldn't want to go bankrupt. But honestly, if I won the MegaBucks or something, I'd put a few million in a "DO NOT TOUCH" account and then go spend the rest.

don't know why people are mad

just because there is poor people doesn't mean there shouldn't be rich people

i admit I am jelly a bit, the fact that one meal costs more than I've earned in my life.

if people have set up a business and earned it they can spend it however they want, you can't be hating on children who just happened to have been born into a rich family

The problem is the way it's being presented. JR-Ewing is stating it as if the only reason people aren't fabulously wealthy is because they're afraid of a little hard work.

It's not really that simple. Where you were born, what kind of status your parents have, and especially race and even sex can make a world of difference. The likelihood of a black girl from an impoverished family living in section 8 housing becoming a multibillionaire is so slight that it's almost not even worth considering. I mean, yeah, it's theoretically possible, but it's also possible I could win the lottery tomorrow and end the night having a three way with Emma Watson and Christina Hendricks.

I would prefer they spend only a mere $10,000 on dinner and give the remaining $40,000 to charities of their choice.
