    Best state inside the USA?

What do you consider to be the best state inside the USA?

    Notes:
-all states inside USA are included, and also Puerto Rico and Northern Mariana Islands because they belong in the Commonwealth of US.
-you can only vote once, and you can't vote for your state where you live (to limit bias)
-you must say why, even if you write "because it has lots of snow"
-you don't need to have been there, just know something about it
    -no nation/state bashing.

    Go!

Voting ends 10 days after this thread started.

    Maine.

It's boring, it's redneck, it's cold, it has no economy and it's home.

Maine for sure, I've traveled all across the USA and Maine is simply the most inviting, friendly state Ive ever been to. Definitely the place I'd want to settle down in.
    It's almost a separate country.

Hawai'i. It's like a combination of the best parts of the US, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Rim.

Cant be the state you live in. Hmm. Colorado maybe. Great natural beauty. Decent culture. Lowest Obesity rate in the country. Ok government. Far enough inland so it doesn't have Hurricane, Tsunamis. I also believe its not very seismically active. Weather is ok, not great, it gets cold, but snow can be fun.

Massachusetts; it's cold, it's got Boston, great schools(at least if you're rich or brilliant~) and probably (one of) the most European/Canadian-like state in the US.

    Best in what way?

I live in Princeton, NJ and it's certainly not the best, but it's in the middle of everything. NYC, Philly, Washington DC, nice shore towns, all pretty close.

In every way, as you see it. So best state under your categories.

Texas by far. Stable economy although we have tons of "tea-partiers" its the only state that has been its own country before and I would go so far to say it is almost completely self sufficient if it really came down to it. Not to mention more Texans go into the military than any other state and most of us down here own fire arms. If there was a battle royal then Texas would own.

Good, no one has posted up Michigan and it better stay that way.

I'll have to say Alaska. It's cold and snowy up there, also has beautiful landscape.

Depends what you're looking for in culture, climate, and economy. Each state provides something different (usually).
