While I don't see the three first, and only announced, stretch goals as unimportant, not saying that you are, I agree that they lack that certain something when it comes to excitement Here's hoping for later stretch goals that have a greater wow factor.

    Dinosaur Battlegrounds

I was thinking the other day with all the remakes to films and video games why the hell does nobody make dinosaur games any more? There's been some amazing games in the past like the Turoks and JP Operation Genesis but for some reason there has barely been anything since. Well the other day I saw an article on IGN for a really scientifically accurate dinosaur simulation/rpg type game where you can chose a species of dinosaur and try to survive. I thought it has loads of potenial so I thought I would make a thread here on mmoc to show awareness to it and people who might be interested in it like me.

Here is their kick starter with some impressive visuals.

What do you guys think? I think it looks awesome and have always wanted a game like this.

JP: Operation Genesis was indeed great.

And I agree, we need more games (and movies) with dinosaurs (and sharks).

There's also online FPS Primal Carnage: http://www.primalcarnage.com/website/ (and http://www.depthgame.com/ Depth Game with sharks, seems on hold tho )

  7. #207
I thought it would be cool if someone made an animal simulation game. Who wouldn't want to run around as a lion or wolf killing shit? Also add in online features where you create clans (packs, prides, ect ect) and fight over territory.. But this game does it with Dinosaurs. What not to like about it?

Still though.. Who knows how far off this game is. I'll keep an eye on it. I invested too much money currently into games that are not even released yet. So I will wait and watch with this one lol.

Trials of Ascension - Hardcore MMORPG

An immersive sandbox MMORPG gaming experience for players brave enough to step outside the mold!

Trials of Ascension is a hardcore MMORPG being developed by Forged Chaos. It is currently in pre-alpha and the game has been in development for I THINK about 12 years? The game has so many concepts and ideas that it would be difficult to explain in a paragraph, so here's the guide: http://trialsofascension.com/guide/. While it does have many mechanics, big features would include:

    -Perma-death (100 life counter)
    -Playable non-human races
-Powerful, but difficult to obtain magics
    -Innovations
-Player ran (and built) cities, settlements and kingdoms
    -No leveling!
    -Dynamic Spawning

    And a LOT more!

    Website: http://trialsofascension.com/home/
    Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...ovative-mmorpg

Just as a side note (and you can watch it in their kickstarter video) they turned down publishers and investors because they wanted Forged Chaos to tone down the games difficulty, but they refused and decided to go to kickstarter.

Novus AEterno: A true AAA MMORTS

This had it's own thread at first, created by the devs, but it quickly got derailed. Thought I'd post it here because it is, in my opinion, a great concept that I'd like to see pulled off for once- Age of Empires Online was a huge disappointment in many respects (was hoping for more persistant war, which it looks like this will have). I'll just quote the dev's original post, as well:

We've created a new sci-fi MMORTS - Novus AEterno, and launched a Kickstarter to polish it for our public release (it's already playable).

Novus AEterno combines empire building with tactical and strategic RTS combat. All within a single massive, persistent multiplayer game universe.

You can find the project at Kickstarter under Novus Aeterno

The funds will let us devote more developers and resources to improving features and completing the final features.

If you're into RTS or Space-based games, we'd really appreciate your support if the idea of a MMORTS excites you. Also, please post a link to the Kickstarter!

Feel free to ask me any questions, and I'll pass them along.

Interesting. Although I'm not willing to pay 100 dollars for early access. I'll wait until it's released.

The Repopulation - a sandbox MMO with Alpha starting in March (beta later, release estimated Nov 2014) has their kickstarter up. This is their second kickstarter, if you pledged to the first one you can use your pledge from that still, + upgrade to more if you want a higher level now.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Medieval Open World RPG

    Kickstarter Campaign

    Homepage

A first-person, open world, realistic RPG that will take you to Medieval Europe in a time of great upheaval and strife. A humble, young blacksmith loses everything to war. As he tries to fulfill the dying wish of his father, Fate drags him into the thick of a conspiracy to save a kidnapped king and stop a bloody conflict. You will wander the world, fighting as a knight, lurking in the shadows as a rogue, or using the bard’s charm to persuade people to your cause. You will dive deep into a sweeping, epic, nonlinear story from Daniel Vávra, an award-winning designer from the Mafia series. Our unique, first-person combat system lets you wield sword or bow in both one-on-one skirmishes and large-scale battles. All of this - and more - brought to life beautifully with next-gen visuals delivered via CryEngine 3.

    • Non-linear story lets you choose between being a villain or a savior. Every quest can be solved in multiple ways.
    • A revolutionary combat systembased on inverse kinematics, the only one of its kind to offer a rich, authentic yet easy-to-control, first-person melee experience.
    • Based on actual 15th century fighting techniques and designed in cooperation with medieval martial arts experts.
    • Improve your character. Different play styles - warrior, rogue or bard - can be mixed and matched as you see fit. You can develop your skills, earn new perks, and fine-tune your equipment.
    • Large realistic, medieval-themed, open world landscape covering 3.5 square miles and 30 hours of gameplay (in first act, out of 3 total).
    • Lead the charge in enormous, open field battles and sieges. You are no superhero. If you’re going to take on an army of enemies, you better find one of your own to back you up.
    • Take a trip through the Middle Ages: Traverse sprawling cities, magnificent castles, towering, dark forests, and muck-strewn villages.
    • Discover this huge world from horseback or on foot. If you can see it, you can visit it.
    • A dynamic world comes alive. Every inhabitant plays a role in their communities, and as night follows day, you can watch people work, help them when needed, or try to interfere in their routine and see what happens.
    • Build relationships with characters, become a criminal or a local hero, seduce local women, threaten your enemies or pardon vanquished opponents.
    • Create your own weapons, cook, brew up potions, or dig around for silver. All crafting occurs in-game, using clever mini-games, rather than boring, soulless menus.

    My opinion:

Looks like Skyrim on steroids with a more tactical combat system, no magic/fantasy with a focus on a more realistic display of a medieval world ...
They already have (several) Investors and they were kind of pushed into doing a kickstarter to see if there's an actual demand for such a game (therefore the goal is "only" 500.000$ for such a huge project) - if they miss the goal it'll be highly unlikely they can keep their investors, etc. etc.
What bothers me a little bit is that they want to release the game in Episodes ... the first episode will be around 30h of gameplay (80h for all three acts) and the game will be in developement for another 2 years ...
It might become a really great game, but 2 years is a lot of time and I really don't want to wait months/years to get access to the second/third act of the story.

    Edit:
They hit their target within 2 days ... maybe they'll announce some stretch goals in the near future
